Subject: Antonia - Opinions?

I just tried it in DS, had to manually load the textures but she is great. Works fine in DS. I even made some mat poses.

I can't believe how fast things move round here. The Antonia Collection looks amazing, Sazzy's morphs will be a welcome asset as will WW support. The one thing about WW is that for every other figure we have to buy the support, will this be the case with Antonia? I can afford it, it'd just be nice to know if I'll have to.

Great work everyone, once she is finalised I promise you will see some character morphs from me. Something tells me that the time will come sooner than I think!

Are these inject or morph target? And if morph target, can someone explain how to do that in Studio?

Mine are obj files you have to manually load because I haven't figured out the right way to do make the inj/rem files yet. In DS you use MorphLoader to do that, select the head, it'll ask you for the obj file, just navigate to the folder where it is and it'll load with a new dial.

Yep, shame we can't have one page with all Toni's freebies and extra's on it, you know - in one place :o).

I have a web site with lots of space and I could expand it for a few pennies more.
Maybe I could set up a freebie section just for Antonia.

Let me check it out. :)

I am in the process of transferring my old Bravenet account to Hostgator.
It gives me unlimited disk space and band width for less money and has a bunch of page building goodies.

As soon as they finish the transfer I'll set it up to host an Antonia site.
Then all her freebies can be hosted in one place.  😄

I will need to figure out how to give each of you a way to upload to the ftp part.
Maybe by the end of this coming week the Antonia site will be ready...I hope.

Oh, I'd love to see that avoided if possible ;o).

I have a website, but it's free and I'm not sure how much traffic I can have in a month. I'll look into it too. In any case, someone can sign up for another free site where I have mine and make a purely Antonia dedicated site. The hard part will be getting all the artists together to get their things uploaded to it ;o).

Very nice, Sylki! I love the blurring effect!

So, what's wrong with ShareCG? Seriously... I don't see anything wrong with that site. And they are willing to host 2 large files of mine totally free! You guys know something that I don't? Lemme kno!

Anyway, the Antonia Collection was my first release ever, so I've still got lots to learn:)

Things like: making smaller releases that can be hosted here, creating MATpose files that actually work, creating morphs that can be shared... y'kno, stuff like that.

@BluEcho: That is beyond generous of you to host a site for Antonia! Not saying that anybody else should do it but, if you put a donate button on that site (ie - paypal), then I'll definitely help out!

WHOO-HOOT!!!!!

The problem with them is first they were a cool place to host freebies cause they actually payed the freebie creator a small sum per download..  I guess that didn't pan out so they stopped paying click through to the artists..  not a big deal, really, but then they set it so that you have to register for an account to download the freebies.  I don't honestly trust them with my email after their history of changing the rules every year to suit their own purposes.

And yes, you have to register here at Rendo to download from the free section... but Rendo has proven themselves to be a reputable business and market place, not just someone trying to find a way to make money off of other's generosity.

lesbentley, thank you for the information, I realized the real issue is there is no corresponding JCM for the top.  I have to deal with other angles too.

Wow! There are a lot of activities now; morph, textures, clothing...  Antonia is very popular.

It is good to keep up a healthy scepticism. However, you go on the say.

Quote - And yes, you have to register here at Rendo to download from the free section... but Rendo has proven themselves to be a reputable business and market place, not just someone trying to find a way to make money off of other's generosity.

This seems like an unfair conclusion to me. If you are judging how reputable a site is by the number and frequency of rule changes, then it looks to me like Rosity changes a lot more rules more frequently than sharecg.

As to trying to make money off of other's generosity, I think you will find that both sites have advertising in with their free stuff, and neither charge to register.

And as far as trusting them with my email address, I don't really trust one site more than the other, but to me sharecg seems to be the premier Poser free stuff site, with the biggest and best selection of freebies, so I post most of my free stuff there. I have no complaints so far.

Believable3D ( ) posted Mon, 22 March 2010 at 1:36 AM

I have no complaints at all about ShareCG.

However, it's nice to have a central location for a figure and related items. If stuff is scattered around ShareCG, you're kinda at the mercy of their search engine and stuff will probably fall through the cracks.

After a while, it can get to be too difficult to keep up with what is available for a figure in a forum thread like this. This thread is one of the most popular in the Poser Forum here at Renderosity, and it has grown very long. Antonia might not be a for sale product, but the figure is becoming popular very fast. Many figures for sale as products have a WIKI page where information can be shared and updated in an outlined narative format.

Maybe it is time to consider an Antonia WIKI page? Development and update history, credit to contributors, download pages for the various resources, and even information about products for Antonia can be maintained, and quickly updated.

Probably edited for spelling, grammer, punctuation, or typos.

I think I've given up on likenesses.  I'm never satisfied, and the morph options just aren't what they used to be.

Rogerbee1 ( ) posted Mon, 22 March 2010 at 3:26 PM

You're not wrong there! Using Morphs ++ alone to capture Summer Glau almost did me in! Fygomatic is excellent but he can't share anything. I certainly prefer original characters now too, they're not forever being judged. I also got tired of people suggesting tweaks when I'd already tweaked her as much as was possible with what I had.

Someone interested in the loading of morphs in an already setted up grouping as I did?

A Wiki would indeed be great. I've been meaning to put some information on Antonia's Google site, but as usual with me, it just hasn't happened yet. If someone could host and set up an Antonia Wiki, that would be fantastic. Failing that, if I could get one or two trustworthy volunteers who'd like to keep the info on the "official provisional" site up-to-date, I'd be more than happy to grant them the necessary access rights.

I'd love to set up a "proper" site for Antonia, complete with forums, a wiki, an upload section, and so on. One day I will, I promised, but given my lack of momentum, I think I should concentrate on getting Antonia finished.

The next release, 0.9.123, will be my candidate for the "official" Antonia from the neck down. If nothing serious comes up, it will then retrospectively be declared official; otherwise, I'll do a quick bug fix release. Changes from the current 0.9.122 to version 0.9.123 will only affect the neck (or more specifically, the JPs for the head actor), hands and feet.

After that, I'll work on expression morphs, phonemes/visemes, a proper rigging for the tongue and such things. I don't have a time frame for that to be finished. I'll just have to see how it goes.

I'm unable to use the computer my DS3 is installed on for a few weeks, so I did a very basic mat preset for SF Toni to make her look a bit better in DS, but it was done in 1.7 which I have installed on the machine I'm using right now. As I recall, my old saved setting looked different in DS3. Would someone be kind enough to try them and see how they translate from the old version to the new please? If it looks decent in DS3, I'll add the glossy lips, nails and nail colours.
