bclaytonphoto ( ) posted Tue, 02 March 2010 at 6:46 PM · edited Sat, 25 January 2025 at 5:47 AM

Streets and roads can make for a very interesting photo. The lines and shape of the road, the traffic,The local with the road, all can be a great Photo opportunity.

Here are some  examples (for inspiration) from our Photo Gallery on Renderosity.

The idea of the forum challenge is to be both fun and educational. Try something different..expand your horizons..Most of all have fun with this. I've been thinking lately that, often one can become bogged down with all the technical aspects of our art form. It's important to have fun with what we do..

Cool idea!  I'm sure I'll be back.

Now why do I all of a sudden hear Willie Nelson singing his "on the road again" song?!?!?!

They say a picture is worth a thousand words...

So where do they go when a photograph leaves you speechless?

ROAD for RUNNING

Bruce, that first web image...where is that!  flatlanders have enough trouble with our mountains and hills and to imagine them driving on that road is scary.  Learn to know the smell of hot brakes or use a trusty and stable donkey.

This is supposed to be a two lane road with a speed limit of 100 KPH (About 62 MPH) but for some reason I felt like driving a little slower than that today.

N1 into Cape Town

About 7am on the morning drive into Cape Town (Kaapstad) passed the Sable Road (Sableweg) offramp.  I wonder how many of the drivers actaully see Table Mountain looming before them?

Cheers,
Clive

ok, I'm late but I love what I see. Some daring work and some unique twists.

Tom, first time I ran a mountain road after dark in a sparsely traveled area, I thought I'd set my car on fire. After finding a place to pull over (not easy on logging roads) I discovered it was my brakes smoking. It was freezing outside but I had to sit and wait for them to cool before continuing and I had a very long way to go. Scary trip down from 7000 feet to the valley floor but I eventually made it. I know that smell of burning brakes! :-)

US129....known to the motorcycling world as "The Dragon".  318 curves in 11 miles.  "Two lane blacktop....it's not a highway, it's an attitude."  Taken 1/27/10 through the windshield of the car just before sunset.

LovelyPoetess that's looks like something from Tales from the dark side.  :) (TV show)

Here is the street in front of the house I rent. Don't want to drink and drive around here.  ;D

cfulton ( ) posted Sun, 28 March 2010 at 4:01 AM

LovelyPoetess has a scary road indeed!
Kbrog: It does look like a challenge - no run off for a motorbike or cyclist!

Lady Bird Johnson initiated many beautification projects, in Washington DC, in Austin and in the surrounding Hill Country of Texas.  Here you see many people stopping on Interstate 37 south of San Antonio to enjoy the wildflowers.  She once said,   "Ugliness is so grim. A little beauty, something that is lovely, I think, can help create harmony which will lessen tensions."  What she started is enjoyed by many today.
