Subject: Question about upgrading to Poser Pro

RnRWoman ( ) posted Mon, 29 March 2010 at 1:41 AM · edited Fri, 10 January 2025 at 10:36 PM

Hi,

I'm interested on upgrading to Poser Pro from Poser 7. On the Smith Micro site they list three different ways, Base, upgrade from Poser Pro and Sidegrade. I know this may sound like an ignorant question, but the Sidegrade is the one I should order right? I just want to make sure of all that is required. Thanks in advance. :-)

Take care and God Bless,

Oy. They sure don't give much info, do they? Bad. They should tell you what you need to be upgrading or sidegrading from. But I'd say your guess is correct; in any case, just enter your serial number when prompted and see if it gets accepted.

Yes sidegrade is the one you want to order.

i ssidegraded from Poser 8 to PoserPro last week without a hitch - but be mindful you will need your serial number from Poser 7 when adding to cart.

Yeah, that's true, there's not much info about it, although I think they say Sidegrade is for Poser 6, 7 and 8 users. I feel silly for having to ask, but I don't want to charge it, then suddenly realize I chose the wrong one and have to go through a lot of tech support. LOL

Anywho... Thanks for your reply! :-) Thankfully we've found the box for Poser 7. It's been awhile since we've installed it.

Thanks, .Artemis.! Just had to make sure. :-) Really glad we found that Poser 7 box and I saved my serial number before switching to Windows 7. LOL. ;-)

I don't think that could happen, as you need a valid serial # in order to make the purchase. That's why I said just enter the serial number and see if it accepts it - then you know your choice is correct.

So, hang on - let me get this straight... I thought you had to have BOTH PoserPro (original) and Poser 8 serial numbers to qualify for a side-grade to PoserPro2010... no?

No you can have Poser 8 and poserpro to qualify for the $50 upgrade to 2010.
but you can sidegrade from P7 or P8 without a hitch to 2010 or upgrade from poserpro (whatever version) to 2010.

make sense? :) sorry its like 3am my brain isnt functioning lol

Probably not a good time to bring up the boolean AND, but I read this to mean you must have both to qualify for the $50 upgrade. I only have Poser 7 and Poser 8. Not PoserPro.

Or did you mean or?

RobynsVeil,

I saw this link first, which is what is what wanted me to make sure that my assumption is correct when I first posted this. Hopefully this link will help.

Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)

RobynsVeil ( ) posted Mon, 29 March 2010 at 4:46 PM

Thanks for clearing that up. Yes, I did see that. Since SM are the ones offering this, I should believe them and not rumours.

No problem. :-) I'm glad I started this thread to ask, if means that the confusion is cleared up for others as well and it could be of help in some way.
