We are forecast for highs of 29 degrees celsius or higher all week except one day.  That's a little warm for March but beautiful.  When the highs stay around 38 degrees celsuis this summer, I'll be thinking longingly of colder climes, like Denmark.  :)  We've had a lot of sun lately and the dust has been painfully obvious.  :(

helanker ( ) posted Tue, 30 March 2010 at 2:34 PM

OHH MY!  So I am not so sure what I prefare, as I am not happy for too warm weather either.
Pitty we cant share the weather. :-)  You could get half of my cold and i get a little warmer weather  from you :-)  Then we would have 2 good weathers LOL !        I know i am silly. :-)

helanker ( ) posted Fri, 02 April 2010 at 2:04 AM

Gorgeous shot, Kim.  :-D
And here we are in troubles. As we have gotten a new floor in the kitchen, we also have had one to change the installations to the dishwasher and the stove...YIKES, Now the relay is shutting down all the time. So we cant cook and we cant wash dishes, as the zink isnt reinstalled yet. :-/
AND it is holiday  :-(      I certainly hope my hubby finds a solution  LOL !

Thanks Kim it is adorable :-))) My nephew came and saved the day, by swapping it back to how it was before. Now we think maybe the wire was defect, but now the stove works and even the dishwasher workes YAY !!!! lol Just as they finnished to place the dishwasher in the right place, Per, (my hubby) lost a very important nut into the dishwasher (INSIDE ), but not in the place with the cups, but behind. OH MAN...Then they had to take it all out again and open the machine in the bottom to get the nut out. The nut was for the faucet LOL !  We are all so tired of all the troubles and mistakes. But now my kitchen is back LOL !

I came back Monday, from Lake Charles, Louisiana where my mom lives.  When I think of Lake Charles in the spring, I think of Azaleas.  They are pretty this year.

helanker ( ) posted Thu, 08 April 2010 at 10:23 AM

WOW ! That is indeed a lovely Azalea :-) SO gorgeous colors.

I was standing there, looking over the hedge at the trees and flowers beginning to bloom in the garden of the Roman Museum, when out of the corner of my eye I spotted a sparkle of red moving along the edge of the parking area just a few feet away from me. I glanced that way and my first thought was of a lady bug. I looked a little longer and noticed there were dozens of them moving around, but none of them were flying. I looked a little closer and – ***“That’s no lady!”***

Anybody know what these cute little springtime bugs are called?

That bug is a certain sign of spring! So far, we have only hyacinths of the larger sort and the little grape hyacinths like these pictured.  The little ones are spikes of about 1 inch or 25mm, most here being a bit smaller that that.  The tiny bell-like or "grape cluster" flowers are small, indeed.  We have wild flower trillium coming up but not blooming yet. The bloom of the wild ones are a pale yellowish green.

helanker ( ) posted Sun, 11 April 2010 at 1:42 AM

No Bob, I dont know the name of the bug, but it is mighty beautiful :-)

Tom, the (what we in Dk call "pearl hyacinths" are just wonderful.

They are called "Feuerwanzen". (Pyrrhocoridae)

I suppose the english name of it is "firebug".

BobKemper ( ) posted Sun, 11 April 2010 at 3:54 PM

"Feuerwanzen" it is. Thank you. I looked up Pyrrhocoridae on the web and found out all kinds of interesting things about them, including that they have wings. I'm glad these were walking around looking for a mate instead of flying. It made getting the picture a whole lot easier. :-)

Great photos everyone. Ok so here in Oz spring is far behind me now, and winter is on it's way! So I've been using this time to attack my overgrown garden. I've been forced to remove one of my much enjoyed Hibiscus plants, mainly because it was just getting two big and impossible to walk past. The stump is still there so something may sprout in the future, if I don't decide to attack it 'again' with Ole Man Chainsaw!

OHH Yes garden work. I was on it yesterday and cut old plants down.. and roses , but I feel alright today :)  I have.... or had some big Lavatera, but it seems they are dead from the tough winter. Had hoped they came once more.  I am afraid not.  Forgot to make new. This is how it looked last summer.
