No, not the software crashing...  This is better than that!

This YouTube vid shows a nice technique for making somewhat believable collision in Carrara while reducing or removing the LoL-inducing "popcorn" physics glitch. (And yes, I really do laugh when I see it do that, and that's despite how fustrating it can be.) A lot of busywork may be involved, but it does yield nice results. (Hopefully the bullet physics simulation in C8 will fix things, but this video shows that collisions can be done in older Carrara versions.)

I believe AgeOfArmour is a member of Renderosity, so don't forget to give him a round of applause after watching the vid.

Kudos to AgeOfArmour (and pauljs75 for the link) for making this. It has me curious as to a  how good the C8 physic engine will be now.  Shows some nice work-arounds for the current version.

Very cool results! He had to go to quite a bit of extra work using proxies for physics calculations etc, but the animation looks very good. I also hope that the claimed upgraded physics engine in Carrara 8 makes this sort of thing a lot easier, and more realistic.

Very nice of him to share the tutorial like that.
