Subject: Installing Poser Pro 2010?

3dBim ( ) posted Tue, 06 April 2010 at 8:50 AM · edited Thu, 14 November 2024 at 7:00 AM

Hello :o)

Any advice on 64 bit installation of Poser Pro 2010?
As yet, I have not been able to get it to work...
I have unchecked the 32 bit tick box, and I am installing content to "shared folders"....
Thanks

Are there any errors associated with your install?  I have installed the 64 bit version without any problems.  Describe what is happening and provide screencaps if you feel they convey the information better.

Also, are you installing in the traditonal way, under a Runtime folder structure?

edit: oh, my bad. You said you are installing to shared folders.

Hello hborre,

I am happy to hear that you have not had any problems.
I am currently reinstalling, but; so far it has been dysfunctional.
The first installaion worked ok, but I could not load to the library, (better to say I could not find it in the library). The last installation; everything disappeared if I touched any camera control. I usually opt to load content with the program, but; have been advised against this by the Poser support people:o(
I  was just  fishing to see if others are haveing problems and where others are installing content to avoid yet another failed install.
Thanks

I installed PP 2010 into a Windows 7 environment and elected to create it's own folder on the core HD (i.e., C:/PoserPro 2010) instead of the Program Files folder.  Although I have all authorizations in place, I don't want any unexpected problems.

The legacy content provided with the program can be installed anywhere, but again, if you are using Vista or Windows 7, avoid the Program Files folder.  I preferred to load mine into the PoserPro folder just for ease.  All other content will find homes in separate external runtimes.

With you install, allow PP 2010 to also install Adobe Air which should be automatic.  This is the primary software that constructs your library using IE browser components.  Also, allow Poser to connect to the internet.  If you have a 3rd party firewall, make certain that it allows Poser to communicate through the internet.  Don't worry, there is no actual communication with the outside world, it needs to establish communication protocols within your computer to construct and assemble your library.

Reboot your computer just to stabilize the program the OS and the program.  Also, avoid watching videos and surfing the web before starting PoserPro.  There have been some instances where Poser does act up for no reason.  It has happened to me with 32 bit XP and P8.  Doesn't happen any more.

Keep us posted on your progress.

Hello again hborre,

Kool.   After my latest install I rebooted and defragged.  It looks like it really needed that.
I have not really checked it out, but; it is at least working now.  :0)
So thank you .
