**mike1950:** Here you go! The banners where made for the Poser forum banner contest months ago but so far they are not alive. If they ever will I may have to create new ones for those who are so kind to link to the Antonia-site. But until then...

I agree that "Base" seems better.  "Basic" seems to me to suggest that there's an advanced version, or something.  The Antonia base is pretty darned advanced already!

Ooh.  Peoples already said that.   Sorry folks.

Not to alarm anyone, but it would be useful in the long run to have some kind of authentication on a site like that. Virus scans are one thing, but those don't protect from malicious pranks or people abusing the site in other ways. If you don't want to add your own site registration, OpenID might be a useful alternative. This would allow people to log in with their identities from Google, LiveJournal and many other sites.

I could still register as lesbentley on some site that offers OpenID and use that to upload a package that promises to shape Antonia's breast in new and enticing ways, while in reality just opening a window that says "Gotcha, perv!". But then the real lesbentley would eventually spot that and could inform us that the person uploading as lesbentley.dubious-host.org is not him.

As I said, I don't think there's anything to panic about just yet, but this might be something to keep in mind and consider for when the site becomes popular.

(Apologies for using your name, Les!)

*I am having a hard time getting a decent bump map.
The one you did for V4 Living doll  is great and I hope I can do one as good as that. :)

I recommend the use of special grayscale filters and/or this video/tutorials for the basics:
http://video.about.com/graphicssoft/black-and-white-photo-making.htm
http://www.wikihow.com/Grayscale-a-Picture-in-Adobe-Photoshop-Cs3

http://www.ehow.com/how_4495714_make-striking-grayscale-images-photoshop.html

Once you are done with this you have to go through the whole texture and find everything that is "wrong" - what means: Find dark spots that should be bright (moles, scars) and vice versa (shine) - or even like freckles. Meanwhile I found so many high-end products that have lots dark spots in the bump that are just freckles  - and freckles are just darker colored parts, you can't feel them.* It's not that problematic if some freckles stay where they are, but most of them should be evened out. The easiest way to brighten/darken parts is by using the dodge or burn tool, evening out is easy by using the healing brush or stamp tool.*

The lips are giving me fits too...sigh.
*I know what you mean. Create a duplicate of you bump and delete everything beside the lips. Now comes the tricky part: revert the layer and use brightness/contrast several times and in tiny steps until most of the lips have the same gray-tone as the surrounding skin. What should be left darker are the little creases. Use the dodge tool to emphasize the creases against the surrounding lip skin. Eyebrows are made in a likewise way. If you leave some surrounding skin with the eyebrows it makes adjusting brightness and contrast easier. *

I do not claim this to be the only method and yes, it takes a while - I spend as much time with the bump maps as I spend with the whole face. Most of all wading through every map to find the imperfections is time-consuming. But once you get a feeling for it you will get faster.

Good point, odf - we are open for any suggestion. So what would be the best compromise between not having to create an account (to encourage people to share their creations) and the desire for keeping foolish destroyers away...
My problem with google, yahoo and whatnot accounts is that meanwhile people like to snatch "my" Nickname. There are countless SaintFoxes in the net since some years, in almost any graphic-community I run into the problem "Nickname already taken". And most of these fellows are of the kind "quiet lurker". This means that I have to appear as someone different who is not "Ah, I know this person from Renderosity" LOL

This may be a problem for the one or other who is (sorry, Les) LesBentley here but has to be JoeJaguar on Yahoo or Google... Because people will look out for Les' dial-a-** morphs but "who is Joejaguar?".

I get what you're saying. I always have that problem on the developers site. People are registered with their email addresses there, which often are quite different from their Renderosity nicknames.

As a compromise, you could go with OpenID, but allow people to register aliases. So they could log in - for example - as joejaguar.bestsocialnetworkever.com, but appear as lesbentley. That way you'd still not have to deal with passwords and such.

That said, I'm not saying having your own site registration for uploaders would be a bad idea. Just that it's a big chunk of functionality. But if you can find good authentication software that's easy to use, maybe it's not so bad.

LaurieA ( ) posted Tue, 06 April 2010 at 7:18 PM

Might be a better idea just to have people request a site registration so that they may upload (not to download) and have an ebot confirm their email address registration if you can implement that capability. It still wouldn't totally eliminate the risk of bad behavior, but if any did occur, at least you could have a way of finding the culprit ;o).

In general I like the new Antonia free stuff site very much. However there seem to be a few glitches still to iron out. Only to be expected with a new site, I remember the mess here at Rosity when they "upgraded" the site.

The "Basis Figure" was fixed in the appropriate section, but it still lives on! It now appears as the header for the Poses section.

The word wrap or line breaks seem to come in some very strange places in the "description" column, see image above.

"You can download this Items:"  should be  "You can download these Items:". "this item", or "these items" (yes I know English is very strange).

I'm not complaining, just pointing things out so they can be fixed some time.

That sounds like the way to go. I do feel rather fearful of what might happen if just anyone can upload files to the site.

P.S.

Well the real lesbentley might just do both, upload a package to shape Antonia's breast in new and enticing ways, and include a texture that says "Gotcha, perv!".

Actually the thought of some breast magnets did cross my mind.

SaintFox ( ) posted Tue, 06 April 2010 at 9:22 PM

Thanks a bout the hint on the word wrap - for finding some boo-boos things have to be used for a while to show up. The problem should be solved now after some corrections in the code. There is still no automatic line-break but I think we can do without it, don't we?!

About some more security: Leo is working on it - but I have no plan what he is doing, while able to write a usable html code I have no plan about php. The misspelling will be corrected then as well. And talking about strange english - german is far more hard to learn, I think. You can see it by counting all the commas I write - while I CAN write them in english I have to in german and may, if I don't, create a totally different meaning - and of course there a are the hyphenation rules.

"Zehn Finger hab ich, an jeder Hand fünf und zwanzig an Haenden und Fuessen" means
I have ten fingers, five on each hand and twenty on hands and feet.
"Zehn Finger hab ich an jeder Hand, fünfundzwanzig an Haenden und Fuessen" means
I have ten fingers on each hand and twentyfive on hand and feet.

As you see: By setting some wrong commas and using a different hyphenation I am able to create a monster (well, okay, I have to mix up fingers and toes - but this sentence was used by my father when I complained about german grammatics to show that it is needed).

I'm not always right, but my mistakes are more interesting!

Speaking of German grammar, I remember an example that was used as an argument for not dropping capitalization:

"Ich habe in Frankfurt liebe Genossen." (In Frankfurt I have dear comrades.)

versus

"Ich habe in Frankfurt Liebe genossen." (In Frankfurt I have enjoyed love.)

English can be tricky, too, though. Subtle changes in word order can completely change the meaning of a sentence.

Just a little note about how far we are here: The "Basis" mistake should be gone now (thanks, Les, for finding it!) and Leo is about to implement a simple log in so that everyone can give himself a username and a Log-In ID (any kind of password). There will no be verifier in form of an eMail or so as we recognized that far too many of them drown in Spam filters and in the end you deal with countless of complaining users. But the log-in gives at least the option to block users and will make it possible to edit, update or delete files a user uploads.

And as I just typed the sequel to "Gone with the wind" instead of a brief description when uploading something Leo implemented a 255 character-limit to the description box. I am sure that I am the only uploader who will be affected by it

For now I will send Leo to bed. He stayed awake since Monday to write code and to keep our cat from hiding her kitten in the wastebasket or on the bookshelf. Now it's my turn to keep an eye open - as soon as we leave the room this silly cat thinks that her kitten is in danger and tries to hide it in dangerous places. So I'll try to find a safe place in the bedroom with her (what may take a while) and then go to sleep as well.

That all sounds like good news.  I like it that the 'Product-Upload' page shows the required size of the thumbnail right next to the input field, and the 'characters left in short description' is also a nice feature. Seems I just scraped in before the limit was set, because a couple of my descriptions run to 305 characters.

All of the things I mentioned seem to have been taken care of, except the header for the Poses page. The spelling has been corrected so it says "Antonia's Base Figure",  but this is the  poses page, the header should read "Poses".

I hope Leo will forgive my nit-picking (definition: minute and usually unjustified criticism). I do really appreciate all the work he has put into this.

The first word you'll have to learn is "Ausländerbehörde". And then you have to understand that if civil servants are mean to you, it's nothing personal. It's like with French or Austrian waiters; they're supposed to do that, and if they stopped, people would complain. 😉
