Need some backgrounds of New York in the late 1970's- Broadway,  city streets, and the Reservoir area of Central Park. Anyone know where I can find them?

Have you tied google images using the advanced filter?
Usually pretty good results for what you might need..

I have. But I haven't found enough "Background-type"pics for what I need.I keep going back and trying again when I think of another phrase or combination I haven't tried.I was hoping there might be a a background package or collection somewhere  that might have some street scenes at least.

Have you tried this combination: "Manhattan Time Square pictures 1970's" ?

Just now. Google says it doesn't have any images and Bing couldn't find anything either.

Go to google images and use "times square 1970"

It's TImes Square, not Time Square.

For background pics I always start in Flickr, which has its own search engine
that doesn't "reflect" in Google.

Here's a good starting point.... from here you could branch using Pools and Groups:

I guess I'm not being too clear on what I'm looking for. These are all good links for pictures of New York, but as far as backgrounds scenes to add characters to, they simply won't work. I need color scenes at street level- most of what's coming up with these links are pics from 4th and 5th floors -or higher. The angles simply won't work.
The angles I'm looking for are like this: standing on the sidewalk looking across the street, or looking up or down the street. At intersections getting ready to cross the street, store fronts, window shopping, this sort of thing.

I'll guarantee you'll find those in Flickr if you keep looking.  Lots of photogs
specialize in street shots, and there are many pools with 'street' in their names.

maybe use events from there - Stonewall riots, CBGBs,etc. as search terms.  things like that?
(just guessin', even though i lived through 'the era of bad fashion', I only made it up there in the 80s...;)

"42nd Street" yielded  a couple but I didn't try for a specific era - there must be some lot from the pre-Rudy heyday. "Bleeker Street" brought up some ground level shots as well, though a gain no date filtering attempted so maybe try searching for specific streets, neighborhoods etc.

I did. I spent most of yesterday searching by street and by park. I think I might have enough now for my purposes. Thanks to everyone for trying to help.
Who knew trying to find street-level pics of New York would be so hard?

Late for the game, but sounded like an interesting challenge. --  Search terms "sidewalk", "storefront" & "streetcorner" yielded some nice ground level views.

Try Google Earth feature at street level...it may work for you
