Subject: Strange video card behavior

Mari-Anne ( ) posted Thu, 15 April 2010 at 11:53 PM · edited Fri, 22 November 2024 at 9:32 PM

When opening Vue 8.4 Infinite (build 51713) yesterday on my 64-bit Vista desktop, I received a message that my video board was obsolete.  Once I downloaded the latest driver for my video card (NVIDIA GeForce 9500) I was able to run Vue using the Open GL 2.1 Shader 4 option again.

However, the same message appeared when opening Vue 8.4 Infinite (build 51713) on my 32-bit Vista laptop today.  Again I downloaded the updated video driver (NVIDIA Georce 8600M) but this time, I was not able to use the Open GL 2.1 Shader 4 option.  The only way Vue would continue was using the fixed hardware pipeline.  Only after I cancelled the update to v. 51713 and reverted back to v. 51487 am I able to run in Open GL mode.

Has anyone else experienced something similar recently?  I am wondering if one of the Windows updates is causing this or if there is something in v. 51713 that is causing this behavior.

I've had problems with 51713, I uninstalled it and went backwards too. My problem was sluggishness in moving anything. A little message pops up in the left corner that wasn't there before too, it says "global transformation" when importing a pz3, have no idea what that means.. I'm using an Nvidia 9800GT
I've raised yet another ticket on this slowness, I'm getting a bit fed up that they keep releasing new versions every few months when they can't even sort out what they have properly..

Injustice will be avenged.

E-on is phasing out support for 32-bit.  They have focused on 64-bit programming.

Hmm - you'd think the message would then be something other than an obsolete Video board...

Well, with E-on it's a roll of the dice if updates make Vue better or worse.  With Luxology I can count on each update for modo being an improvement.  No gamble there.
