Vue Infinite already supports DAZ - just use Collada export.

The (for Vue8 Infinite free) update to Vue 8.4 Infinite Include Frontier already. You don't need purchase Frontier again.

Hi I've tried using the collada import but it just causes my copy of Vue 8 Infinite to freeze, then crash.  I noticed that there are three types of export for collada in Daz Studio.  Is there a specific one I should be using?

Your best bet for Vue import is DazStudio .obj export. It collects and converts the maps precisely as Vue needs them (;

I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not.

Hello!

I am using Collada with Vue 8 Infinite on my Win 7 PC. There are a couple of bugs (see below), but it works overall very well and the figures are pose-able in Vue.

You need to:

  • Use the latest beta of DS3 (3.1.0.96)
  • Use the "DAZ Collada" option when exporting. DS will export the Collada file and collect all textures just like for the OBJ export.

The issues I have encountered so far:

  1. Most materials come in with 100% reflection (easy to fix, select all materials in Vue and set reflection to 0). This has been confirmed by DAZ and will hopefully be fixed soon.

  2. Scaling morphforms in generation 4 figures (for example leg lengths) cause deformation upon import to Vue.

  3. Some compound morphs (for example some expressions) get not correctly exported.

Other than those it works quite well. I had no crashes.

If you want to try the OBJ route, check out my tutorial here in the Vue tutorial section.

Ciao

 Hi.  I tried using both the .obj export and the method THD777 suggested and it still causes my copy to freeze and then crash.  I'm running OS 10.6.3 with 4 gigs ram.  It's a 2006 Mac Pro.  The scene from Daz Studio is just one figure in an outfit.  Any other suggestions would be great.  I admit that I'm more than a little disappointed.  Does it make a difference that I'm running a 32 bit version of Daz Studio?

Sincerely,

David
