Subject: Poser import

Philywebrider ( ) posted Thu, 15 April 2010 at 11:49 PM · edited Sat, 11 January 2025 at 5:39 AM

I finially installed Vue 8 Infinte on my new computer. I had to get help because of Windows 7.

Can any one please  help me with Poser import instructions? I tried the manual but it just seemed to give me warnings after poser models are already in Vue.

I need a I.P. method, ( idiot proof ).

Save your poser file as a PZ3 and just use Vues import object dialogue. Browse to your saved PZ3 and open.  Select your import options - use Poser shader etc. you will probably get a message saying that your options will will slow down Vue (can't remember quite what it says) but ignore it and continue. Should work fine.

If you are using any Vue 8.x version and Poser, it is highly likely you will have a lot of issues if you turn on the "Poser Shader Tree" option. See my details about the issue here:

www.renderosity.com/mod/forumpro/showthread.php

You will need to also learn how to tweak the mats/shaders in Vue for best results too and there are many things to learn that can really help bring out some great results. Make sure and see "silverblades" tutorials and "geetatplay.com" tutorials.

Good luck with your renders.

yeah I MUCH preffer Vue materials, rather than Poser shader tree! :)

tutorial 3Dneo reffers to link is in my signature as always :)

Build 47776 handles both Poser materials and Vue materials well when importing PZ3 files.  For far away camera shots, I use Vue materials to keep RAM usage down for other items in the scene.

Hi Shawn

Not Vue Inf 8.4-04 Build 51713Mac (Intel). It does not recognize Poser Pro (2008) or PoserPro2010 for Poser Configuration- although an earlier Vue 8 Inf version at least recognized Poser Pro (2008)

I have had to backtrack to using Poser 6 to create the PZ3's.

 OK

I turned OpenGL to SOFTWARE- I selected Poser 8 (I have PoserPro2010)and I have successfully imported a PoserPro2010 (v4.2 ++ Morphs) PZ3. AFTER saving as Vue- I switched back to hardware OpenGL 2.1 and it works ok.

NOTE: I turned off nearly all the options- ie no Poser Texture Tree, single frame, etc. I should have selected group as one mesh though.

Oddly, V4 looks BETTER with Use Poser Shader Tree OFF.

Yes, Eric.  Software OpenGL works with importing Poser files in Vue Infinite 8.1 and higher.  When you say you saved as Vue, was it .vue or .vob format you saved in?  I think it was .vob format that worked for me.  But software OpenGL crawls on my system.

8.4 had other problems that were introduced that out-numbered any new features it claimed to have.  So I'm sticking with 8.0.  Vue Infinite 7.5 came with planets.  But 8.5 comes with gamma correction which doesn't excite me.

 Thanks Shawn

Not interested in 8.5 at all right now. It would be nice if they would pause and make less buggy/glitchy/semi-functional Vue 8.4. On the other hand-they probably would if they could afford to do so. I guess that is where the maintenance packages come in.

What I did was import with software OpenGL. Save as "Vue" then switch back to Pipeline OpenGL
and reopen the scene. So far so good!

I jumped from VueInf 5 to VueInf 8.1 (special deal). My problems started with Vue Inf 8.4-04 57113

I'll have to see how to UNinstall the update- or simply reinstall the program

The Windows version (sometimes) lets you click on File and then choose Cancel Update so that Vue reverts to a previous version.

Not sure if anyone can advise but I've tried to import from PoserPro2010 to Vue8Studio but it gives the error message:

An error occured reading the poser file (error #5000)
has anyone else run into this?

Eric Walters ( ) posted Fri, 30 April 2010 at 1:15 AM

Mouser- yes!

FalseBogus ( ) posted Fri, 30 April 2010 at 1:28 AM

Yeah I tried importing from Poser Pro 2010 too with error (can't remember the exact error).

So i reverted importing from Poser Pro. I use Pro 2010 though for making, it just uses the runtime under Pro so I can import from it.

I was going to try copying the runtime from under pro to pro 2010 too, but as it works just fine as it is now I forgot to do that :D

To all those having Poser import issues:

If you read my posts here and in their tech forums you will see a list of bugs I have found with Vue 8.4 and 8.5. I have been assigned a tech for these issues and they are working on it. From the way it sounds it won't be fixed anytime soon. I am just guessing but I would say most likely Vue 9.x before things get better.

In short:

The do not support anything below Poser 7, period. Right now only Poser 7 and Poser 8. There is no official "Poser Pro" support either for Poser Pro 7 or Poser Pro 2010. They do know about problems with Poser Pro 2010 but no word on when that will be fixed. For any Poser Pro users they said to try setting it to use "Poser 7" and that some have had success. But it is hit or miss there.

I have uncovered other bugs such as the "Poser Shader Tree" bugs and also the scale/resize bug on importing making the figures too big or too small.

There are several other things I have reported and they requested files on which I sent to the tech guys. No word back yet on when any of those bugs will be fixed, but I know it will be a while. They may even have to work with Smith Micro on some.

Well at least its known now, a shame as I wanted to compare the rendering speeds and image quality.
Sigh
I just wish these companies would be up front about this stuff, I'd have purchased them both anyway, it just wastes the users time hunting for solutions that arnt there.
