William Nicholson has recently informed me that while he has no objection to me drawing upon his Screenplay & Movie Firelight for my CGI Poser Series, he'd doesn't want me to publish it under the same name.  Since I want to turn this series eventually into My Great Graphic Novel, and since I'm trying to also incorporate other stories & their characters into my story too (such as Jane Eyre, Edward Rochester*, John Thornton**, Hanna Thornton**, etc.), I'm finding that I must go back and redo some of my past renders. 

What I'm asking here is, is there anyway besides delete and re-upload that I can change the order in which my renders appear in my gallery?

David, I would suggest starting over. Your work done on Firelight stands on its own, faithfully inspired by the movie. From a creative point of view, that was the prologue. Now you need to re-vision it, not just revise it. You have many options. You could tell the story from the point of view of the other characters, not just the governess. You could give more insight into the thoughts and feelings of the father of the child, or the daughter. You could even set the story in a different country or a different time period. You could change the ending.....

I agree. You can write your very own romance novel and make a million.

Currently, there is not the option to put your images in a certain order. That would be helpful i'm sure for many members that use the gallery to carry a story line.  It would be a great suggestion. Hope this answered your question for you. :)

If you're serious about this then take the time to setup a proper webcomic site. Even if you don't want to pay for commercial hosting (though you really should) you can use one of the many free options out there. Try a quick google for 'free webcomic hosting' and you'll find dozens.

Rosity is an ok gallery site for poser artists and also perhaps for CG art in general, but you really really don't wanna place your comic here. Not only will all the nudity here drive away a large number of your potential viewers (people who read webcomics from work) but you'll have very little control over the presentation and look of everything.

If you do expand the concept, there are a lot of settings from the heyday of empire, India, South Africa, the Australian penal colony etc. Maybe the heroine is the wife of the prison governor who falls in love with a convict. All kinds of possibilities for buckled swashes and ripped bodices.

Sorry, but I don't want a re-conceived version of Firelight being created under that name. I think it would be confusing. Why don't you create your own work, drawing on Firelight (I've no problem with that) and whatever else you want to stir into the mix, and call it by its own name?

What I read in Mr Nicholson's response is that he encourages you to be inspired by Firelight, but not to re-create it. He says you should create your own work which can draw on Firelight. That is not the same as re-creating the same story but under a different name.

English is not my first language, so perhaps I am missing some subtle shade of meaning, but that is the way I read it.

If you do create a graphic novel that gets published and from which you receive revenue, it becomes very different from fan-art, which your current series is.

My interpretation is that he doesn't mind me using a similar storyline, but he doesn't want it called Firelight.  In any event, I've been planning on making certain changes, such as:

Opening with a very different opening scene, - one which starts out with the Swiss Governess boarding the boat for her rendezvous in Le Havre with her English Gentlemen. Then with next scene showing her standing on deck, with snow falling all around, staring out at a sullen sea, and then having flashbacks as to what al brought her to be there in the 1st  place.

I would then cut to a scene showing her father in court, being sentenced to Bridewell for non-payment of his debts (possibly a result of a business partner who embezzled the partnership’s funds, and then absconded). 

Next would be a scene of her visiting him in Prison showing the miserable conditions of his existence, and there she promises to do Anything (short of selling her soul to the Devil) to get him out of there. 

Following would then a scene of her sitting forlornly in a park, when suddenly her eye catches an ad in a newspaper fluttering at her feet.

That sounds really good. What about the father? Perhaps he judges her decision harshly and there could be relationship problems between them as a result...

I need to find an alternative name for the Swiss Governess: Elizabeth Laurier'.  I've been thinking of renaming her Evelyn Larroux.  My question is: Are there Romandie Swiss named Larroux, and/or is it too evocative of a certain Comic type movie Femme Fatale (i.e. Who Killed Roger Rabbit?)?  All things considered, I'm assuming a

I know the name Le Roux.
My family is originally from Switzerland and the original spelling of the surname was Tridot. It got changed in the Netherlands, where they went before they came to South Africa, when some bureaucrat spelled it wrong, and the mistake stuck.

According to this website, the first name should be spelled Evelyne. Very pretty. There are lots of other good options too.

Pity I can't keep the name Elisabeth, since it has the Hebrew meaning: G-d is my Oath!  In Israel it's pronounced Elishe'va: Eli=My G-d, She'va=Oath.  I'd always thought of Elizabeth as an English name, mainly because of the Tudor Monarch.  It's a real surprise for me to see that it's also French and Swiss.
Evelyne, while having a very pretty resonance, simply means Hazelnut.  Not exactly a name with the same weighty moral force as Elisabeth.  Whatever, can't have everything.  Any Swiss family names that begin with the letter L?

Your movie Firelight has got to be THE best film of the 20th-21st Century!! A tightly controlled plot, great cinematography, and a lead Actor and Actress who have both an on-screen chemistry for each other and a deep affinity for their material! Here's the honest answer to the Swiss question. Originally I wrote the part as an English governess. When it came to casting, and I auditioned very extensively, including some very famous names, I decided Sophie Marceau would be the best for the role. She spoke excellent English, but with a French accent. I therefore had to change the screenplay to make her accent have a reason. I could have made her French, but felt that the associations of 'French governess' were too sexy. I didn't want to distort my story by making it be primarily about the pursuit of sex; though as you know, there's plenty of sex in it. So I made her Swiss. I'm probably wrong, but Swiss struck me as less sexy.

So, being Swiss is less sexy than French.  I'm not entirely convinced.  To me, Swiss is evocative of a nation of citizen warriors, from the legend of William Tell in the Confederations efforts to remain independent of the Holy Roman Emperor, to the various Swiss Mercenary Companies, to the present day Papal Guard.  The governess Elisabeth in [i]Firelight[/i] is a woman of distinct courage and independence.  I think that sub-consciously, Swiss was symbolic of all this.  For less [i]sexy[/i] he could have simply made her a Belgian.
