Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 28 11:20 am)
If you're running Poser Pro 2010 in 32-bit mode, it could be related. If you're running the 64-bit version of Poser Pro 2010, it probably isn't. The 64-bit version uses AIR, not Flash, and that is in a separate process.
Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)

Thanks for replies....
Yes I am using 32-bit mode on this machine....
one more thing I noticed I re-installed yet again and prog
seems to work okay on first start-up...then when some action is performed
e.g I tried to conform a shirt to a character ...the conform box just stays on screen
and the program stops responding and I have to close it through Task Manager.
Then on subsequent start-ups it just gives error message and closes down.....any ideas Bill?
If I understand you correctly, this is most peculiar.
The conform dialog box is not in Flash. Only the library GUI is in Flash. Changes to Flash could affect the library adversely, but not the rest of Poser.
Since this is Poser Pro, you have the option to run the library as a separate process - the AIR version. Can you try that for a while? If Poser still acts wrong in that case, then it has nothing to do with Flash.
Also, if you have not done so, contact SM or talk to ratscloset (real name John, he's a SM customer service rep who hanges out here a lot)

It's in Edit/General Preferences, the Library tab. It's called Launch Behavior and the options are Embedded or External. Embedded is the Flash version, and External is the AIR version.

Thanks Bill....
well I have changed it to AIR and guess what......that seem to have fixed it..
Its not crashing...yet! and I can conform no problems.....Hmmmm SM seem to think
as you do( I would expect that also) that Flash would have no impact on the prog itself.....so thats very weird
but at least its up and running now so...Yipee! and thanks muchly for your help young man.
Is there any advantage to using either Flash or AIR for library?
Steph
Hm. When the Flash version is being used, the Flash engine is running inside Poser, part of the executable. So officially the new Flash engine should not be impacting Poser, but if it is buggy or something new is incompatible some hidden level of interaction, then messing up Poser is possible.
Given that the AIR version is working fine, it strongly indicates that there is some problem with the new Flash player.
Whether one or the other is better really is a personal preference. I like the AIR version better, because for me, with two screens, the undocked library in its own application window is better. With the embedded version, you can still undock it, but you can't independantly minimize or maximize the library window.
Other than the fact that it is a full-blown separate application window, there is no difference between the AIR version and the Flash version, in an functional or operational sense. In terms of resources (memory, CPU), I think they're about the same.

I've had Poser crash on me a few times, but was when I was trying to open up saved Poser files. Only 2 files so far crash Poser when I try and open them, Cam for V4, and the Lady of the Ring. So I just deal with reloading all the morphs when I feel like toying around with them.
BTW, I am using Poser 7. Not sure, but installing some Daz content, it said I had the Pro pack, and it installed extra features for the content loaded. So yea, I dunno about that one.

Hi....
Here is what's happening, Poser Pro 10 has worked fairly okay for me until today...
Upon opening after a few mins it just crashes with the
" Poser Pro executablefile has stopped working" error. The only thing different is I
installed Adobe Creative Suite yesterday which includes Flash Pro. I checked the Flash player
version installed with it ..10.1.52.14 but the latest version at Adobes site is 10.0.45.2.
Could the Flash player version be the problem? I have uninstalled and re-installed twice..same thing
Anybody else using CS5 with Flash player 10.1.52.14? and Poser Pro 10? or any ideas please?
Thanks
