you shouldn't do that!
a normal vacuum cleaner develops a high static charge from the air rushing into it, according to what I remember!
even a battery powered one isn't a good idea though those tiny USB ones, kept away from the actual component's might be ok.

Haven't ya heard, CRT's are making a comeback [so I'm told], because they use a fraction of the energy the new LCD, Plasma ones do..
In these days of "green" this and that and carbon footprints, power useage is a big thing...
I did my electronics 10 years ago now [HNC level] but I've been out of the indutry for 2 years now, all the electronics jobs have gone from here anyway, victims of globalisation and the recession; my job got moved to Poland because as a new member of the EEC they had new "state of the art" factories built for nothing...!!

strange haven't heard anything about CRTs returning, bar some speicalist use they suck in so many ways.
Maybe same certificate I got, then, hehe.
Oh tell me about it, sigh. when they built a plant for Chung Wa here, it was a TOTAL c*** up!
idiots had it built ot Malaysian standards, so things like loading docks weren't right height for UK trucks, they had NO chemical waste disposal, assholes were gonna dump it into the ground!!!
etc
I'll usually avoid politicla stuff liek the plague, here, but since I live near Ravenscraig, and have always got on well with the Polish and am sick to death of our insane, greedy, suicidal stupid societies....you cna guess my feelings :(
As I put it to some American friends about their nation, and also ours: not since Rome, have nations been so determined to commit suicide by their own greed and stupidity!
Ugh
malstorm,
oh the top fan doesn't need a filter! the top and rear fans blow out the way! :)
though of course, a dust filter could stop dust fakling in from the top, I suppose, as well as other junk, like yer kids dropping things on yer beloved PC ;)

Another Welsh ex-electronics engineer here but in my 900 case (literally) I do use a vacuum nozzle (lol). I've been out of the industry a long time now, so maybe that's why I do such daft things - though the only hardware losses I've ever had have been due to Texan thunderstorms (vicious) and the amazing self destructing IBM Deskstar (should have been Deathstar) hard drives.
Down here in the south we had the LG plant, biggest factory in Europe at the time, so it was a shame LG pulled out before they even moved in, leaving the tax payer with a colossal factory and an even bigger bill. Thanks to the Welsh development agency grants we had all of the big far eastern electronics companies here, plus Bosch and a few other big names but once the grants dried up they started disappearing - not much left now.
Rids...Yea similar story up here, there's no big industry left here now, it's all been relocated abroad to either an ex Soviet Union Countries or India or China. Something needs to be done before there's no manufacturing left in the UK, never mind Wales...

Fat chance, the corporate swine are happy to take grant money then move ot cheaper places where they can pay as little as they can get away with, better yet if there are no environmental laws
despise them with a passion, evil SOBs
My Dad worked at a company for 30 years, way back, they were offered quartz technology for clocks etc, they rejected it, saying it was just a fad would cost too much to change over etc..so of course they went bust
not before raiding the company pension fund, leaving my Dad £36/month leftout of his pension.
Only 1 person lived longer than about 57 yearsf age who worked inthe radiation section ofthe factory, they used radium, later phosphorous to make the dials of clocks luminous.
When the factory was knocked down, the walls GLOWED with the radioactive left overs, had to get the IAEA to help clean it up.
Corporates are the great evil of today, we realized what political dictators and religious extremists do, but not corporates, yet they were more responsible for the Nazi atrocities than the anti-Semitic psychos and vermin were
think I'm kidding? check the history, see "The Trial of the Industrialists" at Nuremberg. The Holocaust could not have happened if the Nazis had not been put in power and bankrolled by the men of "Big Business". only 1 of them was hanged for it, a travesty.
Sorry for the bitterness, but money's only meant ot be an economic "hydraulic fluid" as it were, not something you hoard and leave folk destitute or dead over.

the Antec 900 gamer cases are awesome, but, they suck in TONS of dust.
later models added dust filters to deal with this.
So, here's a tip:
you can buy 120mm dust filters for a few pounds each, you can screw two of them onto the FRONT of your case using PC hard drive screws.
The Antec case front has a mesh screen in front of the 2 drive bay closures, a PC hard drive screw (you know, ones used ot fit your hard drives in with), should be about right size to fix the filter through the mesh!
Works for me :)
they unclip (2 part items), filter is in middle for easy cleaning.
You can use tape or whatever if you want to seal up any gaps for 100% perfection, and stick a smaller one on the side of case if need (second air intake on clear plastic panel)
I got mine from Ebay ABout £5 for 3 iirc
