Once again, no email to this previous user.  Fifteen offers to Platinum Club, sure...but never an alert for as much as a single upgrade for the software I've previously bought.

I got the C8S in the downloads section -- since I went ahead and got the version 7 standard and got 8 for free.  The only thing that's getting me is ridding of the Beta of Pro 8.  Looking forward to the new features of Standard (and, hopefully get Pro).

I  recently took advantage of DAZ's generous offer to upgrade from 3D Artist's free cover-disc ver. of C6Pro to C7Pro. I didn't get an email either (not a PC member), but when I heard about the C8 official release I checked my account at DAZ and there was C8Pro under my available downloads. My serial number was there too. :) I waited until late evening to d/l and their servers were very fast. I had everything d/l in about 10 min.

They don't send anything unless you have subscribed to their mailing lists. There have been several mentions of Carrara 8 in the non-PC newsletter.

I am subscribed.  I have received mentions in the past when a new product comes out.  I have NEVER, though my entire time at DAZ, received a targeted notification that an update to a product I already own is available.  It has never been other than "Hey, wanna buy Carrara 7 today?  If you do, you can get 8 for free when it comes out!"

Oh, and never, ever, has there been the slightest notification of point upgrades.  I've only found those through, well, THIS forum.

Contrast that with almost every other piece of software I own.

Which issue was that in?  what Month?

I went to Chapters today and didnt mention anything about that on the Cover disc that I saw.

I have C6Pro already but I maybe out of luck since I dont see on Daz3D an upgrade path to 7 or 8

Hi Analog-X64. I got my copy of C6Pro clear back with the first issue of 3DArtist (14 issues ago) and I also had a copy of it from 3DWorld, which I gave to a friend here. The serial number on both discs was the same! I described how I was able to do the upgrade here in this thread.

I don't know if DAZ is offering the same upgrade deal at this time.

I got mine a few days ago. Hadn't upgraded to v7 but had C6 Pro so far, now I just needed bullet physics and pupeteer controls, sweet stuff. I opted for non-pro version this time, money is tight, but as a PA and with the recent 50% discount promo (still ongoing I think) and another coupon, it cost me a mere $15 in the end. Thank you DAZ!

I'm loving CPro8 so far! Much improved atmospherics for one thing.

I'm on the fence.  Worried about the bugs and crashes I'm reading about.  I'm running a mac, OS 10.6.2, 2.66 GHz Intel Core i5 (quad core) with 4 GB ram.  Does anyone with same configd system have issues with C8Pro ?

Never Give Up!

Carrara 8 Pro Mac is a disaster, save your money! I've wasted 3 days of my life on this thing, grrr. Where do I ask for my money back!

Cheers

I'm not having any problems with C8 Pro on my Vista-64 system, but I'm not seeing it work much faster than the old 32-bit version.  (Pretty much the sames times to start up, save and render.)
Does it matter if its installed in the "Program_Files" folder or the "Program_Files(x86)" folder?  It defaulted to the former, so I put it there.

I was expecting the free upgrade-and find CPro8 brushes, Howie's Snow Scene, Hair Caps for the free upgrade-but no application in my downloads. Arrrgh!
