Subject: IMPORT/EXPORT QUESTION, PLEASE HELP

davo ( ) posted Sat, 16 October 1999 at 2:50 PM ยท edited Tue, 26 November 2024 at 9:23 PM

I have created some 3ds files and imported them into poser to create a creature. I would like to at sometime market my creatures. I figure that people would rather have the figure made out of obj objects instead of 3ds objects, so I tried to export the figure from poser as a wavefront object. If I open the creature in Raydream, all the objects are seperate as I expected. When I import the creature back into poser, it is all one object, not seperate pieces. I have tried all the button under option, it always comes in as one piece. How can I have them come in seperate? Please help. Thank you vedy vedy mooch. Davo

If you have Poser4 select the object and open the grouping tool. Create a new group then click "Spawn Props" all the seperate groups will spawn off the original. -JH.

heya; does he want to do that, or does he want to make a phi and convert the obj (w/groups) into a figure? or will that spawn props thing do that? (hey, i do it the old fashioned way. :) )

Ok, that suggestion gets me on the right track. I'll have to play with it a bit to see if it all works out. I want people to be able to make morpth targets from these creatures 'cause I sure as hell don't feel like it. Thank you very much for your help. Davo

Make sure you've checked out the advanced techniques manual for it's section on making characters. It's under the Poser Resources page at MC's site or it's also printed at the end of the Poser4 manual. -JKeller
