Subject: Help-uvmaping question

Using the grouping tool I created a special group in my poser character so that I could map that group with a different texture. I saved the character in the library so that poser would create the cr2 file I exported my poser character as an object file. I opened the object file in uvmapper, adjusted the map of the group that I created to larger size. I saved the map and I saved the object file. This is where I get lost. Now what do I do. How do I get the poser character to reconize the new map?

i THINK you have to edit the cr2 to point to the new obj (and save as a new cr2, copy the rsr while you're at it) then it should show up in your library and when you load it, it will load the new obj. what were you regrouping? :)

That's it. The .obj file is referenced in two places in the .cr2 so be sure to change both. From what you described though, if I understood correctly, you may have problems if you actually "exported" the figure as a wavefront .obj from Poser rather than using the .obj file in the /Geometry folder. (I'm not a figure builder, but has something to do with losing the joint parameters or hierarchy or somthin'.)

heyas; you have two problems, actually. :) firstly, the export problem. this isn't so bad, if you remember to do these simple steps: turn off all ik. open the joint parameter window and press the 'zero figure' button. make sure both the hip and body have x/y/z trans of 0. (of course, then there's the trick of getting poser to export it with the correct group names.... i think if you turn off 'use figure name' and turn on 'use exact internal names' you're okay.) once you have the obj, and do all the mapping, etc..... you plug it into your cr2. if you use the cr2 you exported it from, the part(s) you used the grouping tool on have custom geometry embedded in the cr2. you have to change those back to being obj pointers. this isnt terribly hard, you just copy the storage offset and the geometry pointer from a regular body part, and make sure the latter names the correct group. (i recommend a cr2 editor for this. i like john stalling's cr2 editor.)
