Well, I thoroughly enjoyed this! It was fun to watch and brought back memories from yesteryear! Good job.

i7 6800 (6 core/12 thread), 24 GB RAM, 1 gtx 1080 ti (8GB Vram) + 1 Titan X (12GB Vram), PP11, Octane/Poser plugin, and a partridge in a pear tree.

Oh, and a wiener dog!

Wow that was fantastic. I would be dragging strangers off the bus to show them that if I made it.

great work.

Great job once again and thanks for posting it here. Was nice and nostalgic!

Hi! Watched it. Might I make a couple of suggestions regarding lipsync? I animate radio plays myself and rerecord the dialog in spots where there is a lot of sound effects over the dialog. Just sit there and listen to that section over and over in headphones as I record and then pick the best one. Then I use that one I recorded myself for the lipsync and get rid of it when I am done. This will clean it up a lot.

If you can afford to, buy Mimic Pro from Daz.

http://www.daz3d.com/i/3d-models/-/mimic-pro?item=1981&spmeta=rl&_m=d

It goes on sale a few times a year for $10 which is about 90% off. Also watch for it to go into fast grab. This will greatly improve your animation and give you lipsync that you can practically read their lips and it adds some natural facial movements to accompany it. Well worth it at full price - not to be missed when it's on sale for $10. I'd go as far as to say it's a MUST for any serious animator.

Even if you ignore everything else, don't ignore this: keep at it! Poser-verse needs more animators! We got so many naked chicks in dungeons with swords no one really takes us seriously as animators. They think it's just going to be animations of naked chicks in dungeons with swords. We need more story tellers to overcome that stigma so maybe we can be taken seriously!

p.s. if you haven't looked at any of mine, I welcome you to. Encourage even.

I'm a 60's baby and was a big Lost in Space fan.

Really cool animation man.
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the suggestions. You're right - I could re-record the lines to get better enunciation....I am interested in Mimic Pro - I presume it will work for Poser 5, 6, and 7 figures?  If I do another episode of Lost in Space having this in place would definitely help - as you can see on some of the lipsyncs they look pretty good but on others it doesn't.

Thanks again.

TOO MANY to count!! LOL.  Thanks for watching. I worked on this since January usually in the evenings and then let renders run over night.  Very tedious but fun. I am very fond of Lost in Space.

Here's a bit of useless knowlege, did you know that the number on the side of the ship, in Lost in Space, was the phone number of the shows producer. You did a great job on this animation.
Thanks for the memories. Keep it up.

The animation was a bit wobbly but the character face morphs were spot on. Good job.

Wobbly?  Yeah I know.  I'm not that good. If you look close some are done with BVH imports - but finding these to work in all cases with Poser 5-7 figures seems impossible. I had to clean some of them up. Then when I had to do it ALL myself - it was a bit herky - jerky.  I guess with time I would get better.

I think the BEST modelled characters are Smith and West.  Then John.  The rest I just couldn't get right for some reason - partly because I had to work with limited straight on and  side shots of the actors.  I am considering redoing Judy and Maureen with the Sydney figure - which is what I used for Penny in the episode.

One issus is finding clothes that "wardrobe wizard" correctly and conform to the figure.  Some of these issues caused me to move the figures differently so that "breaks" in the clothes at certain angles didn't appear.

Again, this is a prototype. If I were to do episode 2 I think I would use new voice talent so I could get the EXACT lines I need.

Thanks for everyone's comments.

One quick solution to poke-through in clothes is to make any underlying body parts invisible.

It's not poke through - the body parts are already invisible.  What happens is a break in the geometry of the object creating a jagged wrinkle or tear in the clothes - it's becuase the Wardrobe Wizard I used conforms  - for example - P4 pants to a P6 figure. Looks ok in most poses but with squats and certain bends the modified clothes might get a funky jagged break at the butt, knee, or elbow or something like that.

I modified P4 pants to a P5 Judy figure which I used for Maureen.  There are certain poses in her legs that create wrinkles on her butt/hip area that stick way out.  you can adjust the pose a bit and it will go away.

This does not occur on clothes meant / designed for a certain figure - only on those that go through PhilC's Wardrobe Wizard - it works pretty good 90% of the time - but it's not perfect - maybe I am doing something wrong in the process but again - it's only certain wild poses that create this.

There is a little setup to use Poser native figures in Mimic, but it comes with instructions I believe.

You're not doing anything wrong. Wardrobe Wizard is nice, but it's not perfect. You need to adjust the joints of converted clothing in most cases using the Joint Editor portion of Poser. It's a whole new skillset entirely and also time consuming. It's one of the many road blocks that has my own animations on the back burner. You've already met some of the others. Lack of decent images for faceroom cloning. Lack of decent recorded dialogue for a good plot... yada yada yada..This is why real film makers have huge crews of support as well as a cast.

What you've achieved solo has been more than outstanding! It's been down right remarkable. Don't let the little things bother you or the nit picks of people who haven't animated a stitch of their own. You've done great.

Here is a good tutorial on fixing breaks in clothes: http://www.evilinnocence.com/xd-pose-fix-tutorial/

While it's about fixing CrossDresser breaks in the clothing, it sounds like you're having the same issue so this will probably help.

I've found that BVH files tend to work better on the Daz figures and really work well with Gen 4 figures. If you can afford, TrueBones has a very nice collection of more than 2500 he often puts on sale for $69. These have been edited quite a bit and with the Daz figures, there are no missing bone errors. Still not perfect, but they are the best BVH files I've found for using in Poser.

Strangely enough, I've also found that PoserPro (the pro version of 7 that is, not the latest) handles them better than Poser 7. It's possible it some other factor, but when I upgraded my system with my tax refund this year, I upgraded to Poser Pro as well and did a series of side by side tests on two different computers, two different versions of poser and two different OS. I didn't expect to see any significant difference in loading in BVH files, but there was. The same BVH imported to the same figure and the results were much better on my new i7 with Win 7 and Poser Pro than on my duo core with Poser 7 and Win Vista. Don't have any idea why really.

PhilC has a very good set of tools for editing BVH files in Poser. Give you things like symmetry, reversing, fixes spikes, smoothing and a few more tools I've not really played around with.

Thanks again drewradley. I looked at the TUT and yes that appears to be what is happening. I'll play around with it.   And, I'm going to look for that MIMIC PRO to go on sale too.  $10 would be a steal.
