Subject: Miki 3 forgotten ?

Wonder about the promised release of Miki 3. No previews yet and I even can't find that newsletter on content paradise. So will there be a Miki 3 ? - Yes or no ?

Hope so, I'm looking forward to a new figure to make stuff for.

Good figures do take time to develop and beta test. Hopefully that is what is taking place. Hopefully she'll be release when she's really ready and not be rushed out just to meet a time line. :m_wink:

Usually there are some mouthwatering promos for new products but concerning Miki 3 I can't see any of them over the past 3 weeks. So I was afraid this Miki 3  project could have been dropped.

LostinSpaceman ( ) posted Tue, 25 May 2010 at 2:13 PM

She'll be fashionably late of course.

Tashar59 ( ) posted Tue, 25 May 2010 at 2:45 PM

Maybe after everyone pointing out how bad the JP's have been with all thier figures over the years they decided to make sure the actually work right this time. One can only hope.

That or they need time training someone in the art of blaming the users for the JP problems.

Surprising, unless they release her tomorrow, it looks like she's been delayed.  I wouldn't think they'd release her on the 31th, that's a holiday.  Very disappointing.  The newsletter from 5-4-2010 still exists.  That's the one announcing her.

I would hope beta testing would be finished by now.  I read one of the "tweets" on her twitter account that vendors already have stuff made for her.  If she's still being worked on, then the stuff made for her wold probably need to be reworked as well.

Time will tell.

LostinSpaceman ( ) posted Thu, 27 May 2010 at 11:44 PM

Holidays have never stopped figures from being released before.....

raburii ( ) posted Fri, 28 May 2010 at 12:35 AM

Any chance that the girl on the Japanese Poser 8 box [graphic.e-frontier.co.jp/poser/8/] is Miki3?  It certainly doesn't look like any render I've ever seen of Alyson, but I suppose it could still be Miki2.

rkinsey ( ) posted Mon, 31 May 2010 at 10:20 AM

I'm not sure if it's Miki3 with a future released character or not.  Could be a morphed and textured Alyson.  I remember Poser 6 had the awesome character for Miki1 on the box and it really didn't look like her straight loaded up.

Well, it's the 31th and no Miki3.  Hopefully they'll release her in June, or at least tell us what's going on.

LostinSpaceman ( ) posted Mon, 31 May 2010 at 1:14 PM

Considering the reception she got in her announcement thread, I suspect a lot more work is being done on her.

I was looking to see if PhilC had added obj->cr2 support for Antonia and noticed that he had for Miki 3.

Funny, I'd say that the "News" that there would be "News" next week WAS news. :tt2:

Tashar59 ( ) posted Fri, 11 June 2010 at 4:38 PM

Which does not seem to have happened.

I got that news letter last week also. Unless they have posted something in those other sites they use. Not like I'm going to join any of them to find out.

LostinSpaceman ( ) posted Fri, 11 June 2010 at 4:42 PM

No news on Facebook! Just left a comment on the comment there about the news being due "This Week". Depending on how you look at it, either today or tomorrow is the end of their "Next Week" from last week.

Tashar59 ( ) posted Fri, 11 June 2010 at 5:00 PM

Maybe they are busy with the new Anime Studio 7 release. I upgraded my 6pro to 7pro last night. You can import Pz3's now. Kinda cool. Spent all last night importing a bunch of old animations done in Poser to see how they looked in AnimeStudio.  LOL.

I'll try out the new Miki3 in it, if and when they get around to it.

Tashar59 ( ) posted Fri, 11 June 2010 at 5:17 PM

Well, just got a new news letter and it points to SM site. Which says that they are working on the geometry and rigging of the joints. They say it is due to thier beta testers. Funny, I would have thought that it was the community that pointed out the crapy JP work for the last few years.
You still have to go to those other sites for more info.

I did get a laugh at thier brag about bring out the best poser figures. If they actually get this one right, it will be thier first. LOL.

LostinSpaceman ( ) posted Fri, 11 June 2010 at 7:49 PM

Yeah Tori responded to my Facebook comment with a link to the news here:

http://poser.smithmicro.com/miki.html

And yeah, it was funny that everything that was nitpicked on was commented on by those of us here in the forum in their announcement thread. Beta Testers indeed. LOL!

Actually, it was me and a few other beta testers. I reported some things with a rather strong opinion, if you get what I mean.

So far, my interactions with the Poser team at SM have led me to understand that they are a sincere bunch of folks trying to do a good job. Being an asshole of any kind is not part of their moral fiber.

They made some bad rigging. We users called them on it. Now they're going to fix it and release a good product. End of story.

You expressed an opinion strongly Bill? thats not like you at all ;)

Only kidding, thanks for the post it's nice to know that the SM team are listening to the testers and addressing some issues.  I'm looking forward to the release even more now :)

So your saying that it was you and some beta testers that made them decide to do a proper job on the JP's and nothing to do with the community complaining for years about them. Something to remember.

Nobody said they were being assholes as you put it. Poor quality control yes.

Not end of story till it's been proven. One good intention does not clean the slate of all that has been.

I'm rooting for a good job. It would be nice to have a well rigged alternative to the DAZ figures.

You can reed the Twitter feed without joining; absolutely nothing of consequence:

Question; If Miki 3 is '3dMiki', does that mean Miki 2 is 'Double-DMiki'? :tt2:

I expect she'll be here soon; DAZ Soon!

What do you expect from a company that can't bother to notify registered users of thier software updates.

Tashar59 ( ) posted Sat, 14 August 2010 at 1:16 PM

I think that's what the delay was. making sure that they do work right. Which BTW is alright by me. Take as long as needed to make sure the JP's work proper this time.

R_Hatch ( ) posted Sat, 14 August 2010 at 10:35 PM

Plus they now have the added benefit of ColorCurvature's PoseMorphLoader script being available, so there's no excuse for any bad bending.

Just in case, though, would one of the beta testers let SM know about said script?
