Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 23 7:38 pm)
What are you installing? Daz .exe files or zips from pretty much everywhere else?
Also you're saying you're installing a new "texture". You can't, as such, "see" textures in Poser, no matter where it's installed. You can see MAT poses (if there are any) or Materials/material collections.
So in order to help you best, we'd need to know exactly what you're installing, how you're installing it, and what it is you're expecting to see where :)
(and I know you said so in another thread, but my memory is like Teflon™ - nothing sticks to it... so what were you upgrading from?)

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA
Using Poser since 2002. Currently at Version 11.1 - Win 10.
TrekkieGrrrl,
I bought Poser 8 fully i did not upgrade. I had poser 6 but there was a problem with the serial number and well i asked to solve this with smith micro. I was tired of waiting for a solution whith this serial number thing and went for the full version, so technically i did not upgrade.
I also installed sr3 and i am running a brand new windows 7 64 bit machine.
First i installed Poser 8 under the program files and i chose to install content to my documents. That did not work for installing new content. So i uninstalled poser 8, did a fresh install and now i chose for installing content inside Poser. This was suggested as being a solution for this problem in my previous thread.
I am trying to install stuff that i bought from renderosity an from the RDNA store these items come as zipped files and i extract them to my Poser 8 folder.
Have you tried unzipping your content in a different place (say like a folder called Downloads), and then manually moving the continent into your Poser Runtime? I ask, because I never EVER unzip content directly into Poser. I always unzip it in a Downloads folder and manually place it into Poser where I want to put it.

If you are running Windows 7, don't install stuff to program files, it causes no end of problems. I'm running windows 7 and all my stuff is installed off the root of C: That might be where your problem is. I expect Windows is putting stuff into the virtual store (or whatever it's called) which means you can't see it

Not according to that unless I'm reading it way wrong. That's talking about the content not the program

Quote - No the texture is under main runtime/libraries/pose and also under main runtime / textures?
We don't know what you mean by "main runtime", I'm afraid.
Look in your windows file system to see the full path of where you installed that content.
Then look in Poser to see the full path of the Library folders you are viewing.
My guess is that these two are not the same. Hence you can't see the content in the Poser library.

You all are very supportive so thanks.
But i am stil having problems do not always. The suggestion of Latex luv unzipping the content and then put the content manually in the right folders works, but not always? Must be me making mistakes while dragging and dropping the items from the unzipped file to te the appropriate runtime folder.
Ok now Poser 8 is installed as described below
C:Poser8runtimeCg
figures
Geometries
and so on................
So when i extract zipped content to the Poser 8 file still some stuff gets in my documents!!!!On my old XP machine running Poser 6 i never had this. Is this a windows 7 problem or a Poser 8 problem?
Anyway like i said i do no do that anymore and i manualy put things where they should be, i must say i do not find this a very elegant way of doing this and also it takes morte time and one can make mistakes if you are not concentrated. I find this process well a little medieval.
Is there really no other way?
Ignore my previous post, didn't realize OP had P8 installed elsewhere.
I would recommend 3D Content Installer.

If your zipped content contains the appropriate runtime hierarchy, 3D Content Installer will load and log your content in a matter of minutes. It can conveniently uninstaller content as well.
I am having this same exact problem with my Vista. It is putting the stuff into the Virtual Store. The manual loading is time consuming. I have hundreds of items to reload. The "install from zip archive" used to work just fine on my computer but then I had to reformat and reload Vista and all my programs. Now Poser Pro is not working the way it used to with respect to uploading zip files. It does not have any trouble with the Daz .exe files, only zips.
I am certain the problem is with the operating system, but I don't know how to fix it. If anyone has any other suggestions on how to force the operating system to make an exception for poser, that would be a good solution to this problem I think.

If full and absolute authorization cannot be granted, you may need to deactivate UAC which will allow full access. But it can and will make your system's Program Files folder vulnerable to malware and viruses. The best recommendation is install Poser in it's own folder on the root drive away from Vista's/W7's Program Files folder. Additionally, create external runtime folders to hold your content rather than loading into the main Poser folder. You can separate your content by categories and organize it more cohesively.
Thank you hborre. Yes I guess makeing the computer vulnerable is not an option.
I have tried to do a separate runtime in the past but I could never figure out how to just access the external runtime from the program to load stuff up. Do you know of a good tutorial that could help me understand the process?

So i upgraded to poser 8 and also to a windows 7 machine. I installed poser 8 under C: not in program files during the installation i chose the option always install content in the poser directory .
This should work fine i think.
But i tried installing a new texture i can not see this item in the library of poser 8 but if i open windows explorer everyrthing is there in the library folder and also in the textures folder.
What is happening?
