Subject: Great problem poser 8 svr pack 3

xpdev ( ) posted Wed, 02 June 2010 at 11:17 AM · edited Mon, 25 November 2024 at 7:16 AM

I have a big problem with Poser 8 (3 pack)

After a simulation with a Dynamic Clothing, I can't select  with the mouse parts of the body to change their position.

I also opened a new model, but it's always like that, and I can not find a command to set things in place.

the mouse commands the camera

The "Point at" solves nothing

Can you select them from the Hierarchy menu?

Well I'm no expert but I am running P8 sr3 with no problems on Win7. In fact the IDL rendering seems faster after the sr and the library is a bit better as well.

Give us more info and maybe I or someone else here will be able to help. To start with what operating system are you using? The guess from your screen name would be XP but assumptions won't help. You might be on a Mac or Linux. Is it only one dynamic cloth or all that you have tried using? You get the idea. The more info we have the better our chances of helping you out.

I am having all kinds of problems with SR3. I can't delete. Renders crash the program. If anyone has SR2 (forgot to save it to my machine) I would love to have it back.

"Is anyone else having problems with the new Poser 8 SR3?"

In my humble opinion, SR3 sucks.

Since installing SR3 on my laptop, Poser 8 is pretty much unuseable. It crashes constantly, will not complete a render, and is highly unstable.

Although I have had ongoing issues with Poser 8 (on 2 seperate computers) since purchasing it in August of 2009, It has been working pretty well on my laptop with only the occaisional crash. Now, since installing SR3 as I said, it's pretty much useless.

I'll report it to SM, but I'm not holding my breath on a fix. They have tried hard, and I think SM's support is one of the best I've worked with, but thus far nothing has worked 100%.

Right now, I'm pretty much discouraged with the whole Poser 8 experience. Maybe it's time to move to DAZ. I love what Poser is CAPABLE of. I just wish it was a LOT more reliable and stable.

Is Poser Pro 2010 any better??

RodS are you certain it's Poser? Not saying it isn't but I haven't had ANY ill effects and only one part-time crash (got the Out of Memory, save soon" error earlier tonight for the first time since I installed SR3 (which I did as soon as it came out!)

The only problem I'm having is that the translate Y-hand usually doesn't work properly until I've clicked it. Simply grabbing it makes it work in the z-direction instead. Once it's clicked and released, it behaves. A minor annoyance (that I hope will get fixed.. unless I'm the only one seeing this behaviour?!)

Hi, trekkie,

Long time, no chit-chat! ;-D

Well, with these %$%%^ computers anything is possible, but all I know is Poser was working pretty smoothly on this laptop unti I installed SR3. Now, it's virtually useless.

I'm trying to do a restore point to 6-16-10 to see if that resolves the problem, and I've submitted a ticket to SM, but right now, I'm not counting on anything - except more crashes and lockups.

Right now, your tagline pretty much describes me. LOL!

BTW, this is a HP dv9000 laptop with an AMD Turion 64 dual-core processor, running Vista Home Premium 64B, 4 gigs of RAM.

And, as expected, the restore point did nothing to resolve the problem.

Here's the issue - see photo. Render will start, and appear to complete, but when it reaches the end of the render, everything just stops and locks up. This is the exact same problem I had with P8 on my main computer that was never able to be resolved by SM. They tried hard, but to no avail. I gave up on that one, and installed it on my laptop whre it has worked relatively reliably until installing SR3. Now, I have the same problem on the laptop.

I love what P8 is capable of, but I'm pretty discouraged with all the seemingly unresolvable issues I've had with it from day one.

Hmmmm....

Well, after fighting with it pretty much all day Saturday, it seems to be working again.

I thought I had automatic updates turned on with this computer, but apparently not. I did an update check, and found a bunch of updates, including an updated Nvidea driver. After all the updates, Poser seems to be working again.

I just did a 3360 X 2100 render of the bar scene pictured in my last entry - 3 figures, lots of lights, and various reflections and transparencies, and it completed normally.

Keeping my fingers crossed and being guardedly optimistic....

I hate it. It just stops working. The FFRender.exe just vanishes. Today I had 7 render crashes. No way to work under this conditions.
Does anyone know how to go back to SR 2? do I have to uninstall P8 completely and then reinstall?
