Subject: Import Poser Clothroom animation to C8

Is Carrara 8 not able to import Poser clothroom animation?  The clothes revert back to the unmodified cloth object but figure animates well.

.Pz3 file was loaded into C8 with "import animation and morph targets" checked.

I found the answer and C8 does not support the import of "soft body" or "dynamic clothing".

I actually keep C6 with Transposer around just for this reason for specific Poser content. (of course Transposer only plays nice with Poser 6 and sort of P7)

Cloth dynamics is truly the missing link in Carrara at this point in time. Poser cloth is incredibly slow to calculate though. Programs like C4D render cloth dynamics in near real time. Hope Carrara adopts/creates some code to do the same.

I saw your post on Soft Body and BWTR pointed you in the right direction using the Bullet Physics (under the motion tab in the properties palette) This has limited draping functions but isn't a full cloth solver.

Hi Mark,
C8 has awesome rendering abilities and the lack of support for Poser cloth import is a big dissapointment.  I use Poser to set up animations and Carrara to do the renderings.  I can work cloth anims around this by using Poser animations in the background in C8 annd adding props.  One plus is that the renderings are faster but the quality suffers when some special effects are desired.

You can also add Sparrowhawk'e plugins into the mix:
