Subject: (OT) Tomorrow is the day!

Acadia ( ) posted Tue, 06 July 2010 at 12:53 PM · edited Mon, 09 September 2024 at 2:43 AM

For those that don't know, I was diagnosed with cancer in May. I posted about it here.

Yesterday was my last day of work and I'm home today doing an awful prep prior to surgery tomorrow.

My surgery is scheduled for 9am tomorrow and the plan for discharge home is Sunday. They said I'd be there for 3 or 4 days.  Pending no disasters or complications, I'll be back at work on August  30th.

I'll try and give an update when I get home.

Online Now!

Good luck, Acadia.  We will definitely keep you in our prayers.  While the surgeons are at it, is there any other special requests you would like them to take care of ?  Might as well get it all done now.

Ack, that's today. Best wishes for your surgery if it's yet to happen, hope it went well if it's over.

Quote - I'm home today doing an awful prep prior to surgery tomorrow.

If the awful prep is what I think it is, I've been there myself. Look on the bright side - after that, anything else is going to seem like a vacation! :)

Continue to be upbeat and optimistic. It is a PROVEN fact the upbeat, optimistic people survive better and more often than "realistic' people do. This will sound bizarre, but embrace the experience.. Enjoy meeting the new people. Joke with the doctors and nurses. Try to enjoy every second of it, and it'll transfer to enjoying life for every second of it!

You have not one second of your life to waste on misery or worry. Be positive and fight for every second of every day and enjoy meeting everyone you meet and take every point of light and joy you can and things actually will work out better than if you didn't. It is a pure survival thing we humans have to pull us through that really works.

I don't need to wish you well. You'll do fine. Just be upbeat.

I cannot save the world. Only my little piece of it. If we all act together, we can save the world.--Nelson Mandela
