Subject: Farewell Brian, long may you render

50parsecs ( ) posted Tue, 06 July 2010 at 7:53 PM · edited Mon, 25 November 2024 at 10:12 PM

I just read at DAZ that long-time Carrara Forum member and contributor Brian Rohde passed away this last Saturday night. I always admired Brian for his creativity and the fact that he plunged right in and learned softwares that might intimidate many a younger bloke. Age did not diminish his creativity, nor his ability to learn. Many of you will have memories of Brian, I know I do. I'm going to miss our resident curmudgeon.

Rest in Peace, Brian.

Oh no!! not our Brian!!! he went by BWTR right?

I think the last he posted here was June 28th?

I had many discussions with Brian over the years. Some good, some bad and all were interesting.

Will miss him.

You're quite right Analog-X64. BWTR was the name most people probably knew Brian by. I found him to be inspiring. I'll never be able to give age as an excuse, at least as far as my 3D output. I raised a glass of Cooper's in his honor earlier. G'bye Mate!

Wow, he will be sorely missed by many.  He always took the time to reply to my threads in the Carrara forums.  My condolences to his family and many friends.

RIP and God Bless you Brian.

I never really had the chance to get to know him, but always enjoyed his posts, and will miss seeing that purple hat pop up in the forums.  He will be missed.

BWTR was an excellent contributor to this forum.  I enjoyed his input and feedback on many things here.  I will miss him and hope that his family will get through this transition as best as possible.

Thanks for posting this 50parsecs. I think Nick is going to put together a little memorial for him here on Renderosity too. It was a pleasure to know him.

When I first dove into Carrara and started taking this stuff seriously, Brian was the first person to make me feel right at home. I knew him only as a kind and generous man who went out of his way to make our little community feel like a family.
I'll be thinking about ya Brian :)

sorry to hear it.  he was a likeable, friendly, helpful chap IMVHO.

That is sad indeed, his efforts and his desire to help others will be missed.

For some reason I allways expected him to be around, he was a comfortable person kind of like the stuff you have in your home (you allways expect it be there).

My best wishes to his family and safe travels Brian.

'Tis a shame, the ol' guy would always come up with something or other. I'll miss seeing him around.

The first post I ever made over in the Carrara forums at Daz, Brian was the first person to answer my question (I think it was within 5 minutes).  It's still a little unreal that we won't be seeing him posting anymore, but I have no doubt that he's off rendering and creating now (just on a far grander scale).  A truly remarkable man, with a unique and creative vision in his art and in his commentary.
