Subject: Gizmo Avatars and Use in Poser?

inquire ( ) posted Sat, 10 July 2010 at 7:23 AM · edited Fri, 08 November 2024 at 8:56 AM

 This site -- http://www.gizmoz.com/newsite/presite/home.jsp

creates some interesting avatars, and quickly. I can get figures to look like celebrities. The avatars, however, are not rigged. I was wondering, if I bought one, could the head alone be imported into PoserPro2010 as a morph target, and used to get an M4 to look like a celebrity?

Quote - You may purchase an OBJ file on Digimi.com and import it to Daz Studio or any other 3D software. But stay tuned as we are planning some surprises there :)

sounds like a gimmick to sell same old DAZ content to non-Poser people (like the Developer DAZ page)

Well, yes, but I meant the head only imported as a morph target. If that were so, it might be possible to turn an M4 head into almost any celebrity and use and pose the figure. The same for a V4 with the head as a morph target for, say, Lindsay Lohan.

Importing the whole thing as an object means that you can move the object around, but the whole thing is static as regards movement and facial expression.

Can't see your idea working unless there's an exact match between the vertices of your imported head and Mike 4's head.

Yes, that's just what I feared! Oh, well. It sure would be a terrific technology, though, if one could apply it to a generation 4 character. I can't achieve the same results in the Face Room nor with FaceShop.

Hi, to answer your question, no. The exports are low rez objects, 14k.  If you take the trial DS, there dos not seem to be an easy way to create your content as in Digimi proper even loading the digimi layout.  The purpose here is to get you to buy some tools to allow you to port your DS creations out to games via the fbx plugin.

Regards

does it allow one to export some kind of figure in t-pose?
if so, what is filetype?  it's not necessary for these things to be rigged. if they are certain filetypes,
rigging can be applied to them.  I need an obama, and toonafish.nl is still not selling his.

Well, Miss Nancy, if you find that this kind of figure is usable in Poser, please let us know. If rigging must be applied first, please let us know that, too. I've never rigged a figure before, just read a little about it. But, for this kind of technology, I'll give it a shot.

as mentioned above, for $25 it allows one to export 14K obj file in t-pose.
it has normal body part sizes, hence rigging one of those is not too difficult (no expressions).
it allows free export of medium-size image file.  I tried obama and face is o.k.
but they didn't have the right hair nor clothes.  I also need  big-head caricature,
which I didn't see.  they want users to download and install D|S but they don't say if
it includes their plug-in.  this may indicate that, after expenditure of cash and installation
of unknown number of items, these may be applied to rigged models.

Well, if you do get something rigged, please let us know how that went. Maybe post a little example. When you say  "no expressions," do you mean that the face is static and you can't change the positioning of the mouth, eyes, etc.?
