Subject: Poser 8 SR3 library falling asleep?

ShaaraMuse3D ( ) posted Tue, 13 July 2010 at 6:02 AM · edited Fri, 10 January 2025 at 12:35 AM

It happens once in a while that the Poser 8 SR3 library "falls asleep" it simply won't update or refresh.. It can stop anywhere, just showing ?s, stopping during the refresh.. Then even after restarting poser, the libraries are blank, and it just says "transactions pending" and "in progress" at the bottom. The numbers change when I try to refresh the library but nothing happens.. The only thing that usually works at this point is to restart the computer..

Anyone else having this issue too?

Yes I had a lot of similar issues, it turned out to be a combination of a very old version of the Flash Internet Explorer Add-on, and also the Firefox version of the Flash plugin would fight with the IE version (which Poser requires).  I had pretty similar symptoms although not exactly the same - frequently the librarly would stop refreshing and the manual refresh button wouldn't work any more.  See this thread:

I heard through a question to me via PM that any wxPython script that causes an error leaves Poser in this state as well. Something isn't right.

Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)

I'm trying to troubleshoot it now as i go.  Problem is that it doesn't always happen, so it's difficult to reproduce it. But if I find something I'll definitely let you know.
