Hi there!
I'm very new to Poser, so here comes my question (I'm sure it has been asked many many many times be4)

How do I create / model clothes (dresses etc) for poser figures. OK, I know Hexagon is nice, but this is so incredibly difficult. There're no good tutorials (ok maybe a few) ... There must be an easier way to create dresses for poser 7 figures?! In Hexagon I can't save the clothing as "pzz file or pz3 etc" .. only as OBJ, 3ds .. But I can't really use this for dynamic clothing .. It looks creepy ...

ok, here on renderosity are sooo many amazing clothes, were they all made with hexagon? omg ...

how do I create clothes I can save as pz3 files or use it as dynamic cloth .... ?

thank you very much!!! :)

I use Wings3d to create dynamic clothes.  Everything you see in my store and freesection is made in Wings. :)  It's intuitive and very easy to get started with.

I use Wings too. Having said that...

Try YouTube. There are oodles of Hexagon video tutes there. There are also a bunch at www.geekatplay.com.

If you are creating dynamic clothing, exporting from your modeling program in .obj is what you want. I'm not sure what you mean by "they look creepy".

cole4965 used the Clothing Designer to create this outfit.

http://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/index.php?ViewProduct=77964&vendor=343181

I believe that they also used the Shoe Designer and Hair Designer

These utilities enable you to quickly and effectively create content in Poser.

Clothing Designer is actually how I got started, before I learned modelling. :) Great utility!

noofkin ( ) posted Mon, 19 July 2010 at 2:43 PM

how do I download this clothing designer ? I was looking on their page .. but no link. maybe there's no free version.

thanks guys, I'll try some tutorials.

No, there is not free version of the software.  The price on the site is $9.95.

ShaaraMuse3D ( ) posted Mon, 19 July 2010 at 2:57 PM

I've been thinking of actually making a clothing tutorial with Wings..   There seems to be a demand for it. (I could never find one myself so I had to learn on my own the hard way)

noofkin ( ) posted Mon, 19 July 2010 at 2:58 PM

oh yes. I was lookinf for good ones at youtube (hexagon) ... but only 2 or 3 ... incredible ... like no one's using this software.

I have a site specifically for clothes modeling in Hexagon.

noof, you import the .obj into poser and let poser turn it into the files you need.

WARK!

Thus Spoketh Winterclaw: a blog about a Winterclaw who speaks from time to time.

(using Poser Pro 2014 SR3, on 64 bit Win 7, poser units are inches.)

I'm gonna start on a new shirt for a project I'm doing, (It will probably end up in the marketplace too.)  I'll keep notes and screenshots while making it and post a Wings tutorial. :) It'll probably be a week or two before it's up though

That would be great! Very much interested in this.

Oh oh oh! You have Hexagon! Don't let the Wings people win you over to the dark side! Hexagon is all you need!

Seriously, Hexagon is GREAT for creating Poser clothes, it's easy, fast and efficient. I use it exclusively!

If you want I can make a super-fast "how to make a simple dress" in hexagon. It's the best program for making Poser content! (although some may disagree.. it's only because they haven't given it a chance!)

Any program you use will output OBJ files. It's one of Poser's native file formats. Anything you see in Poser has an OBJ somewhere to hold the actual geometry. It isn't creepy at all :) It's how the program work.

Try: this:

You have a dress you've already made. It's an obj. Import that into Poser. Open the props folder. Save your dress. Now the OBJ is a PP2. Easy peasy :)

It's how it works :)

Seriously if you want more explanation, you're welcome to PM me. Be aware that I'm on CET (that's Europe time) so it may be a while before I answer, depending on where you are and when you post :)

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA

I've actually been thinking about trying out Hexagon too, but gotten so used to Wings that I've not taken the time to do it, heh

What's the code to put up a clickable banner?

TrekkieGrrrl ( ) posted Mon, 19 July 2010 at 4:10 PM

I did it by editing the Source. The Rosity software bungles up the codde.. not sure if it's deliberate L

The html is

<a href="YOURLINK"
target="_blank"><img
src="YOURBANNER"></a><br></br><br></br><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:Arial, Verdana, sans-serif;">(The
Target="_Blank" is what makes it open in a new window
btw)</span><br></br><br></br>

I put both h t t p links within the quotation marks and am still getting an error.

 what error do you get?

Follow that link I gave above for www.geekatplay.com. They have at least 40 video tutes for Hex.

hey guys, thank you soooo much! you are awesome! Seriously. Thank you. I will pm you :)

thanks a lot !!!!!!

Yes, hexagon seems so "exclusive" but difficult for newbies like me. I'll give it a chance. Thank you very much! Although this "poser cloth designer" thing looks amazingly easy to use. wow ... I'm impressed.
