Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 24 1:33 pm)
Did you happen to switch off Save Binary Morph Data in preferences?
I turn it off, myself, because ti causes issues when using DAZ Generation 4 figures..

The Wisdom of bagginsbill:
"Oh - the manual says that? I have never read the manual - this must be why."This happened to me sometimes, and when it did the PMD file was trashed, not recoverable.
Well at least I am not the only one. Judging by the reply it should not influence my next pz3 files.
Daz generation is something I need to get my head around next.
I am a real novice animator, so Daz for me is not strait out of the poser library there for will need a little more thinking about, I believe you are talking M4 figures . Yes you might remember the days when little was known about Daz?.
Oh I would have switched off Save Binary details if I new were they were.
Oh by the way I am on render 107 of 345 quite an achievement if the quick time file does not render at a 1/4 of the image!
Turn off the option Edit ->General Preferences -> Misc -> "Use external binary morph targets". Poser will stop writing PMD files. They take longer to read and write but on the other hand they don't get mashed when you have this kind of problem. I don't know for sure that this problem only ever occurs with DAZ figures, but when it does it ruins your day, so I prefer to leave it off.
Hullo John
I felt great trepidation with the latest crash, and lets hope it was a one off, anyway the Daz figures sound like forbidden fruit to me, it would be just fine and dandy if I could finish the educational .mov for the charity by October, then if time is willing maybe experiment with Poser and other programmes, by the way the apple people are very impressed with what we are doing and when I go for my, Final cut tuition they are aways asking about the next scene animation, the tutor has asked would I be willing to allow them to show the production as an example of stretching the use of Final Cut Express.
Good stuff.
I'd say turn if off no matter which figures you use. Turning it off won't mean Poser will not READ a pmd if one is present, it just won't generate new ones :)

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA
