I tried Facebook for a while and found it didn't really add much to my life but it certainly complicated it, enough so that I signed off. I know a lot of people like it so perhaps it's just me. I also deleted my cable TV years ago. No regrets about either. Now when people want to tell me something they actually phone me or send an e-mail, and sometimes even visit in person.

That's cool Wayne....It's been a great networking tool for me....

Never say your too old for Facebook!
I will be the first to say I was skeptical about "social networks". I had some bad experiences with "My Space", but Facebook has been a "friend" saver! I actually was able to get in contact with a friend I grew up with that I had lost contact with over 20 years ago!
And Bruce, yes, I have sent your link to many friends to check out your photos. Don't be surprised if you get a few invites yourself, as I have quite a few "local" photographers in my friend list.

I signed up because family wanted me to, but find that they do not use it for anything interesting. Mostly going fishing, cannot wait for Saturday, etc. It is nice in that they do post some photos of the family. I have even hid some relatives that swamped me with do this or do that and stupid games. So I am not real excited about facebook.
Thanks Kim...I'm really finding it to be a great tool to network with other Photographers..both locally and around the world..

I'm on Facebook too (Michel Gillard) and so in contact with many current or former RR members...
Recently, when uploading a new picture on R'osity and then trying to share it/the link on FaceBook, I get the choice to include one of many different pictures (including avatars)... but never my own upload :-((
Previously this was well possible...
can someone explain ?

It should give you the option to choose the thumbnail..There is a little arrow looking thing that will show different thumbnails.
I used to use that method..Instead, I created a page for my photography..I'll look at this when I get home tonight...

I have that same problem with the thumbnail. ...and sometimes, after people have posted comments on the photo, their icon will also be an option to choose. But, still not my photo.
Anyone who wants to add me on facebook, feel free, just mention you are from Renderosity!

I'm happy to see all of the responses..It's really interesting to see photographers get connected..especially when get to to connect with people would have never met..

I agree with whaleman...
I had FACEBOOK as well, I added some friends, and I got a lot invitations from people I never heard of......and I also deleted some "friends" I did no heard from for ages....
Very often I read a lot argues or fights between others......and so many private things that I would never post openly.....
But to be honest...I have totally no interest and time for that.
I have send some friends I had in my list an email before I closed my account to tell them that it has nothing to do with them....
My life is filled enough to answer questions in daily life etc etc etc.....real people......
I only post on some websites my pictures so as RR and some other websites......for me there is more than only internet
I use MSN for my family and some friends and that's more than enough for me.........
I know a lot people likes to be in contact every second a day...and then FACEBOOK is good for that....but not for me
I still get invitations and I have closed my account for about 3 weeks ago....I don't understand that....
I speak for myself, that's how I see it
