Subject: How to darken blood?

charlesatlas ( ) posted Sun, 01 August 2010 at 7:40 PM · edited Thu, 14 November 2024 at 10:55 AM

Hello

I am doing a project where I am putting some blood splashes (from Poser) on a pair of roller skates (long story).  The problem is that the blood isnt dark enough so please advise.

Thank you.

Without screenshots, it's hard to visualize what you're attempting.  Please post a shot of your render and your Material Room settings for the blood.

Other than that, I suggest you change the Diffuse_Color to something darker.

Blood is surprisingly NOT red. Well it is red, but more like burgandy really. So I'm wit Sam.. change the diffuse to something darker :)

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA

Aye, it's the iron in there.  The old haemoglobin.  Or Guinness, in my case.

Or do what I would do.... use "burn" in a graphic program.

Of course you could wait for Bagginsbill.  He'll likely be along with some great material room magic that will do it automatically and then some!  :)

I have to see the problem first.

all I know is I smell a roller derby render wicked grin

If you have access to a decent digital camera, it couldn't hurt to get a photo sample.  I'd give your finger a little prick, go outside in the sun, and take a picture.  It most definitely isn't red, it's kind of a purply red.

Why bother with roller derby, it's a fixed sport.  No one truly gets hurt there.

lol,  totally beg to differ.  Maybe it is where you are, but, after trying out for the team last year (and having to decline when I got pregnant), it is most definitely not fixed around here  ;)

One more question..the roller skates are poser files..I understand I can somehow import a poser file into photoshop and add the blood there..does anybody know how this is domne?

Thank you very much.

bagginsbill ( ) posted Mon, 02 August 2010 at 10:09 PM

Assuming there is a color map image associated with the skates, you edit that image.

Open the material for the skates. Click on the part you care about. There should be an Image_Map node holding the color map. Open the texture file list on it and look at the full path to the file. Then you know where it is. Make a copy. Edit the copy. Change the Image_Map to use your edited copy.

Sorry, Jen.  I knew a roller derby queen a very looooong time ago.  She admitted the games were not taken that seriously, just like pro wrestling.
