Subject: Okay, I'm rolling up my sleeves and waiting for Carrara 7 Pro

Plutom ( ) posted Mon, 02 August 2010 at 12:09 PM · edited Fri, 13 December 2024 at 8:45 AM

or maybe not, depending on what you experts state.  Specifically, I use Carrara for modeling.  Now for the modeling, according to DAZ, it has 3d paint so that you can paint on the entire model, place decals etc on it just like on the original Raydream 3D software models back in 1997.  Is that paint program any good?

Second, doing vertex modeling in the assembly room too.  How is that working out and third the vertex room any new stuff there?  I'm jumping from Carrara 5 Pro.

Yes I mean Carrara 7 Pro that will be in 3DWorld Magazine Issue 133.  They do mention its on a CD, not a DVD.

You folks in the Misty Isle, is it a CD or DVD?  Thanks in advance guys.  Jan

You can also get a copy in 3D Artist Issue #17

Thanks Analog however that magazine isn't in any book store in my neck of the woods since  Barnes and Noble booked out and Books-a-Million doesn't carry that magazine.  I've been following the Carrara thread in the  Poser forum.  The 3DW is coming in September and is out now in the Misty Isles.  Jan

most all the discs I have gotten from 3dworld or 3dartist have been DVD's not CD's  Not sure on that specific one but with all the content they usually give I would say DVD

yes, 3Dartist CD 017 is a CD.  the 3d paint works even in the mac version, which is missing
90% of the full version's content, but it's not as slow as CS4E, which is as slow as raydream
IMVHO.  If the 3dworld disc is a CD and it has extras not on the 3dartist CD, that would leave
even less space for carrara content.

It could be that 3DWorld Magazine's promo on Issue 133 is just a generic "CD" meaning that it could be a DVD.  I'm hoping that some of the folks in the Misty Isles will tell us for certain since they now have their Issue.   Thanks for the info on 3d paint Miss Nancy.  I liked the way Raydream 3D handled it.  Jan

Woodcarver, is the 3DWorld Magazine disc a CD or DVD?  Jan

Just an FYI. (since I have articles in both the 3D Artist and 3D World magazines) The 3D Artist mag will put all of the Mac content in the next issue I'm told - there simply wasn't enough room for both PC and Mac plus their other content. I believe #133 for 3D World is the program only but I haven't seen the publication yet. The editors sent me one but it hasn't arrived yet.

Mark, I'm not sure, but I think you have an article about Carrara lighting in issue 133 and I double checked, it is on a DVD, they used CD as a generic term.  Jan
