Do you have an exact model number ?
It seems the I5 has several types, one quad core - no hyperthreading , the others dual core but hyperthreaded so none provide more than 4 actual or simulated threads.
It does automatically change to run faster under certain load conditions so should give good performance.

Hi, I want to speed up my rendering time and am about to purchase a new computer to be used exclusively for rendering.
The one I am considering in my budget has an Intel i5, with 8gig of ram and Windows7 64 bit. I will upgrade my P8 to the 2010 or whatever they are calling it that takes advantage of the 64 bit processing.
My primary concern is whether or not this Intel i5 processor is a quad core. In the ad description it mentions "4" over and over again but does not come out and say "quad-core".
Can someone offer some advice? Thanks!
