Subject: Experience Making DAZ Studio Scenes in Carrara?

 I have been trying to do some scenes in Carrara 8 Pro for use in DAZ Studio3.  I have had poor luck so far and was wondering if anyone else here is doing the same?  Having difficulties with textures, size, etc., once opened/imported into DAZ Studio.

Not sure I understand your question, but...  I just wanted some basic scenes to use in DAZ.  The freebies mostly suck.  Haven't seen any DAZ Studio scenery worth buying...  My posing and morph work goes best under DAZ, so, I need some "scenery" in DAZ...

I see, what kind scene you are trying to export from Carrara? Carrara scenes with landscapes and trees? Are you using DazCollada or OBJ format?

Right now, just 2 walls, a floor and ceiling, with textures.  I may, at some point, use a Carrara landscape, but right now I'm having issues with just getting some ground under the models and walls around/behind them.

Was using .obj...  Unfamiliar w/DAZ Colada.

I was just wondering if anyone else was familiar with this situation.  I would like advice on the best way to get a "scene" into DAZStudio.  What I have tried is unimportant as it hasn't worked --at least with out a LOT of extra work.   I want a simple scene for use in DAZ Studio that I can make in Cararra...

Try lok at this tutorial. I did for people export to use in Octane, but is almost the same thing:

Try the DazCollada, in theory it cold export very well to DazStudio.

The Carrara Room in the Indoor Scenes that come with Carrara, I would export that object group as OBJ and see how it looks in DAZ Studio.  You may need to scale the room so that your DAZ figure looks correct in it.  The room is made up of simple colored cube walls that you can recolor in DAZ Studio.

 Ugh!  I just used the DAZ Collada settings and the results looked REALLY bad.  I used the kitchen from the presets as it was the simplest.  The appliances all looked like a technical exploded view.

I exported the kitchen, the moden house and the golf course (with the leaves made visible and meshed checked in the modeling room) no worries as an obj from C5pro, also various props such as cars, barbeque, furniture etc.  haven't tried big scenes since with later versions C6 & 7, as the models are vey big polygon wise, small models, simple scenes OK but the textures are another story, with my own models I usually have to make new texture maps for use in DS surfaces as nothing else can be easilly exported other than colour, I render a top view of a plane with the bump, diffuse etc in Carrara and use that.
That said I prefer working in Carrara anyway. Animations from DS export well with PFE,
Mostly use my created props otherwise in iClone using 3Dxchange where multi character animation is easier but they have to be fairly low poly.
A strange phenomenom I have in exporting obj's from one app to the next is the shuffling of texture maps, find this with Poser too, often in the end easier to export untextured modelsand just redo it.

Shaders are a real problem from software to software. You will never end with a simple export import thing without do some changes in the shaders.

For every 3D program, there is a different OBJ import/export standard.  The main part of OBJ is getting the actual 3D mesh across which it does great from app to app.  The materials for it and the scaling are not really on its to-do list.
