Subject: Downloading OBJ files into Poser

How do I download OBJ files that are in the Geometries folder into Poser 8?
I have tried copy and pasting the files and folders into Program Files-Smith Micro-Poser 8 but, the items still do not show up in the Poser Library

I'm really not entirely sure what it is you're trying to do...

The objects in the geometries folder aren't to be used as-is...they are the meshes that the .cr2s for the figures and clothing point to. If you use just the object you can't pose anything.

Is it that you can't see the items in your library? If that's the case, you'll need to check your firewall and allow Poser to go thru the firewall. If it's not that, you need to update Flash.

Use the import function for OBJ's.  As Laurie said, those OBJ's in the Geometries folder are the base meshes for your figures.  However, if you've downloaded an OBJ or converted an object to an OBJ, the way to get it into Poser is to import.

Thank you!

Yes the problem is that I cannot view the items in Poser. How can I let Poser bypass the firewall?

Also, how do I download items from the Renderosity marketplace into poser 8?

I don't know what firewall you're using or even what OS, but there should be a list of programs inside your firewall program where you can allow a program access past the firewall or not. I'm not familiar with every one and since we don't know what firewall you use, none of us has any idea to tell you how to do that ;o).

If you import the OBJ into a scene, you will be able to see it in the scene document.

Poser does not categorize OBJ as a type for the library.  You can save the imported OBJ as a prop (.pp2) and have in props folder for later use.

At this time, I do not believe problem is firewall related, but just lack of basic knowledge

Online Now!

Poser is not designed to view obj files in its own library.  You really need to import them.  Which OS are you using and is Poser installed within Program Files?

How would I save the obj as a prop in Poser?

Yes, Poser is installed within program files

Thank you for all of the help. I have finally figured it out. I have to go to libraries->select add library->browse->computer/programfiles/smithmicro/poser8

Not even close.

There are not supposed to be any content folders under main runtime.  When you installed, it should have asked you where you wanted content.

Of course, you can have extra runtime libraries using method you described, but don't pick main runtime.
