Subject: Top view disappearing

DocMatter ( ) posted Thu, 12 August 2010 at 12:25 PM · edited Mon, 18 November 2024 at 1:45 PM

Lately I've been having a problem with the "Top View" in my scenes showing nothing.  I'll try and set my view to "Top View" and I'll get an empty blue screen and it'll say "top view 0%" in the corner.   There's no grid, no scene, no nothing.
Sometimes I can get around this by using View --> selection and it'll zoom down to whatever I have selected, but this doesn't always work.  Sometimes it stays empty with the 0% view.
Is this happening to anyone else?  I have the latest version on Carrara pro 8 64-bit and am running vista.
Thanks!

By the way, it's also starting to happen to some of the side views (right or left).

very strange... the 0% means the zoom level, try to change it so tomsething like 100% or select one object them in the View menu set Zoom to Selection.

I've tried both those things GK, but neither works.

I just tried to replicate your problem. If the zoom gets set way low, the view is lost. I have to set it back to 100%, then go to camera one, then back to top view and all is normal.

Do you use a tablet? The tablet default for the slide bars is usually zoom. I found my hand hit that darn slider and zoomed me in or out by accident way too often!
I disabled the darn things.

I get that too at times.  I can usually get the view back by switching to full screen and then back to windowed mode.

I don't have a tablet, but I tried your method, Sueposer, and it seems to work.
Hope this is a bug they'll fix.

You have to select an object first. Maybe it depends on what you select. Maybe the problems are with Animation group or skeleton selected. And with using "Reset 2D view" I never have a problem.
