Subject: Poser 8.0 Questions

Vanzagar ( ) posted Wed, 18 August 2010 at 9:28 PM · edited Wed, 20 November 2024 at 6:37 AM

Been banging away at this program (Poser 8.0), and gotta say I'm having a blast, could someone please help me out with the follow q's?

  1. When loading poser, and going to window mode, Poser always shrinks to this tiny little window how can I get it to default to window mode of a predetermined size?

  2. How when adding a library can I start at a specific directory. Poser always wants to start at "my computer", but my libraries are about 8 levels deep on my e: drive .. just a hassle and click fest every time...

  3. How do I Delete a library folder? Can easily delete an object in the folder using “-“ but I want to delete the whole folder and contents at once…

  4. How can I create Dynamic clothing to fit without using animation frames? I can get the dynamic clothing to fit, like dropping a scarf on an arm but it takes animation frames, once it’s positioned is there a way I convert it to conforming, or just set the parent for that article of clothing and delete all the animation frames except the last one?

  5. Can I zoom to a selection box? i.e. select a square say of a figures abs and have Poser zoom in to that square?

  6. Once I’ve colored an object, is there a way to uncolor it other than undo? Coloring it from the editing tools top left, pg 133 of ref manual.

  7. If I have an animation, how can I delete frames 1-29 and keep 30. It’s easy to deleted all from “x” to 30, but I can’t seem to figure how to delete say frames 10-15.?

  8. I’d like to create a blue flame, any idea how? Not even sure where to start for this?

  9. Any idea how to create fog? I tried using the “create atmosphere” WACRO on pg 19, and for the life of me can not get it to work?

Thanks for any help you can offer...

Don't understand your first question, not clear exactly what you mean.  A screencap will help.

If you are referring to adding runtimes to the library, there is a built-in script which will scan your drives and add them automatically.

Delete library button found upper right hand corner of Library.

No, you cannot use dynamic clothing without running animation. And no you cannot conform it within Poser.  If you are only interested in rendering, select that particular frame.  You can save the posed item as a prop into your library, but it will have restricted functionality.

You can zoom in Poser using the magnifying glass located on the workspace.  But I don't understand what you mean by box or square?

Reversing coloring can only be done with the undo.

Other answers, I'll defer to others.

Thanks hborre, sorry for not being more clear...

  1. When I first run poser it defaults to fullscreen, if I select non-fullscreen, second button, top right beside red X, Poser always appears as a tiny boxed window on the top left of my desk top. Every time I have to resize it...

  2. Sorry, don't want to delete library, want to delete a folder within a library.

  3. Okay thanks for dynamic question

  4. Yes, that zoom tool works... can;t believe I didn't find it on my own... thanks...

Thanks again...

One other quick question, on Poser 8 when I want to delete a prop from my favorites area using the "-", I'm finding it's actually deleting the file from my HD! I don't want this, I just want to remove it from my favorites area, that's it...

Then when I go to reload Poser next time I get the following error:

Go to my computer and see if the external drive is actually there.  I have an external drive that I have to, some times,  unplug and plug in again for the computer to see it.  Jan

Deleting folders from your library is as easy as highlighting your folder, go down to the bottom of your library and clicking the "-" folder icon.

Deleting content from your favorites folder should not delete the content from your HD.  Make certain to be in the proper tab when deleting.

That bug should have been fixed by SR1... Did you update your Poser 8 at all?

ah, no I have not updated it.... thanks... that also may explain why there is no "-" sign for deleting folders...
