Although this site is in japanese, I recently came across this and was completely blown away by this guy's work... Look at his work... It looks like it was done in Rhino or 3D studio max... It's all done with terrains, people, in Bryce 3 no less... You look at this work and you say "you know, were not really pushing the envelope"... :)I was drooling at the camera.. He gives brief tutorials... Definitely an inspiring site...

Amazing stuff, I'm inspired. This guy does some great grayscale stuff, truly amazing. Thanks for the link, kaom

I know what you mean... Believe me, I thought the caption was going to read "modeled in rhino, rendered in bryce", but its all bryce... And his regular art work is great.. And you look at the quality he's getting from Bryce 3... All in all, it just makes you say, you know, were not really working Bryce 4 & 5 hard enough... :)

I agree! We suck,we're not worthy! That guy makes me feel pretty inferior, and I thought I was good at what I do, not! Now I need to learn Bryce all over again, crap I need to learn everything all over again. That guy showed me that you can do anything you put your mind to, he's too clever for our good. kaom

I agree, this guy is good, no, very good, but I always knew that Bryce is capable of some pretty amazing results if we put our minds to it. It takes is some carefull planning and thought...We can all do it, or at least come close... I don't know how to add a link, but please check my "Temple of ?" and "Copper Bowl" in the Bryce gallery for a sample of my efforts. (do search for guslaw). These are pure Bryce, modelled and rendered...

Hey Walter, that's pretty durned good.. :) Very nice work.. Loved the bowl... Really has a nice quality to it... Now, in the building, did you do the windows using primitives or terrains??? That's also very nice... And in doing the arches for the doors, are those primitives or terrains??

Yeah Kaom, I saw that guy and I said "how do I learn how to do stuff like this??"... I mean, he has the uncanny ability to visualize the greyscale for the terrain and make it happen... But how does he clean it afterwards??? I mean, it really is amazingly machined... It's too bad he doesn't write in depth tutorials about this stuff...

Hey tradivoro, thanks for looking at my stuff. I wish I had Yuji Nishimoto's (I guess that's his name) ability and talent to use grayscale terrains, and symetrical lattices to make them look 'amazingly machined', as you put it, but both of my two pictures are made entirely of primitives, booleaned (sp?) and multi-replicated.

So you're telling me that you did the circular windows grid out of primitives??? that's a lot of work.. :) See, now that's an example of something that can be done easier in the terrain editor and it's not that hard.. All you need is a clip art figure and that kind of work is real easy... But with primitives, that definitely was a lot of work...

Here's a frame I just did using art noveau primitives, bringing them into the terrain editor and using a terrain... This took me all of 15-20 minutes to do... All you see all that detail... I look at your picture, and it looks great, but with primitives, that must have taken a long time...

dont know if this is correct but i made these two shapes using sym-lattices and tried to get the machined look. used full resolution ticked solid and unticked smooth in terrain preview option pop up menu.

i used photoshop to make the grayscale then put in to the terrain editor.

Well, a combination of smoothing and erosion usually gets it pretty smooth... If you put a metal texture on it, it looks really nice... I was trying to go for a more rustic look, being that it's a 19th century pattern, but in gold, the frame looks smooth and classy...
