Subject: 3D Artist Issue 19

PhilC ( ) posted Thu, 26 August 2010 at 11:08 PM · edited Sun, 17 November 2024 at 3:58 PM

Would someone be kind enough to purchase a copy of 3D Artist Issue 19 and air mail it to me? I would be able to reinburse you via PayPal or a NatWest cheque in £

If so could you please email me at pcooke@philc.net for details.

The article I have a particular interest in is:-

Thanks

Not being smart, but did you see this, Phil?

Wasn't sure if you were aware... this issue is current in the UK, so it won't hit Oz for ages...

Do they have WHSmith outside the UK? Phil is somewhere in the US, I think, I'm having a senior moment & can't remember exactly where.

Sorry Phil I didn't realise, thought you were over here for some reason.  Ignore me ;)

Borders and Barnes & Noble...They are both carrying 3D Artist, 3D World and a few other 3D UK imports. As of yesterday they are still with  issue 18, here in Ohio anyway.

And I'm sorry too Fugazi, I didn't realise you didn't know he was outside the UK, he's an Englishman born & bred though & a former plumber too. :D

They carry it at the Barnes and Noble in Hamburg Place there in Lexington, Phil. I go to Lexington Mall's once a month for the wife's mental health and pick mine up while I'm there. LOL I'm down here in the sticks where we have limited access to proper mental health facilities, ie malls. I believe your close to Lexington if I'm not mistaken. You may already know Barnes and Noble carry it and just can't get there, if so clarify.

And I'm sorry for making the mistake in the first place which has caused you to respond to me which then cause you to be sorry.

Sorry about that.

I think what everyone's missing is that it's the latest issue, and it's not out on this side of the pond just yet ;)

Thanks folks,

I'm in Lawrenceburg Kentucky so if Barnes and Noble carry it I'll be able to pick up a copy in Lexington sometime. I'll also check their online page.

Thanks.

EnglishBob ( ) posted Fri, 27 August 2010 at 7:41 AM

Are you in a hurry for this, Phil? I can pick up a copy on Saturday, if nobody else jumps in meanwhile. If somebody does, please post here so I'll know whether to get one copy or two. ;)

PhilC ( ) posted Fri, 27 August 2010 at 7:46 AM

There is no hurry but I would definitely want to get a copy. EnglishBob, if you could please do that I would certainly appreciate it.

Anyone know who wrote the Poser article in it?  Was it you Phil? :)

The five-page article is indeed credited to Mr Phil Cooke!  My own regular Poser Q&A column in that august publication this month is on how to use the Hair Room to make fur - therefore two Poser articles (and a review of Poser Pro 2010) in one mainstream CG magazine - not bad!

My self-build system - Vista 64 on a Kingston 240GB SSD, Asus P5Q Pro MB, Quad 6600 CPU, 8 Gb Geil Black Dragon Ram, CoolerMaster HAF932 full tower chassis, EVGA Geforce GTX 750Ti Superclocked 2 Gb, Coolermaster V8 CPU aircooler, Enermax 600W Modular PSU, 240Gb SSD, 2Tb HDD storage, 28" LCD monitor, and more red LEDs than a grown man really needs.....I built it in 2008 and can't afford a new one, yet.....!

My Software - Poser Pro 2012, Photoshop, Bryce 6 and Borderlands......"Catch a  r--i---d-----e-----!"

Now wait a minute.  A magazine publishes an article and won't even send the author a complimentary copy?  What has this world come to?

This issue I bought in Oz before coming away on holidays to the US was #17... thinking perhaps I should subscribe, but it's too bloody dear!
Plus, it's not every issue that's got brilliant articles like the one I'm looking forward to by PhilC...

The last time i went to B&N for a 3D World they had 3 copies.  The first two were open already and missing the software DVDs T.T.  Yeah, I was sweating as i picked up  the 3rd one O.o;  but it was complete. ^ ^

Letterworks ( ) posted Sun, 29 August 2010 at 6:32 PM

hum, yeah the latest issue available on my iPad is only #18 so I guess the company that produces the digital version is on the US schedule. However, I will be looking for it!!

We have WHSmith in Canada as well.

Although ours is now part of the Coles/Chapters/Indigo mega comglomerate that controls like 95% of all the bookstores in the country.

But the store in my local mall is still called WHSmith (or SmithBooks which the name sort of morphed into a few years before Chapters merged with everybody else)

I popped into Tesco yesterday & spied a copy of 3D Artist, I grabbed it only to find out it was issue 10!

Thanks for the info Jeff, I've never set foot outside the UK so I'm completely in the dark on lots of things in other countries.

I think 18 just hit the shelves at Borders in SF... didn't see it there yesterday. Had a squizzie: nothing in it I wanted. Can't wait for 19, though 😄 but we'll be back in Oz, so it'll be a LONG wait.

Just downloaded 19 digital version and had a quick look at your article Phil, very informative, thank you. I fact the entire issue appears to have a lot of Poser content, which I'm happy to see.
