Was wondering if anyone knows of a decent way of creating fire in Poser 8, basically want to show a fireball leaving a wizard's hand....

Thanks,

Vanz

Jepe has great fire/spell casting packages that you can use in Poser. I have a number of his special effects props and swear by them.

Thanks... so if I buy one of these packages and use them for pics in my simple Shareware game, do I have to give credit or mention of this in my game?

Thanks,

Vanz

I don't know. Best to read the readme file for the terms of use before buying the package.  You can also send a message to Jepe. he's  very approachable guy.

Ah...dangit..i think it's on most digital's page (look it up), but there's a fire prop in there that's quite nice; used to to good effect on occasion.

Just as an FYI... I have been comissioned by 3DWorld to provide a tutorial that will involve a fire blast from a gun in Poser, I know it's not very big but...

If nothing else it will show you another way or path of doing something with fire, plus you'll get a free gun out of it! 😉

Comitted to excellence through art.

This .gif anim consists of a ball prop with a point light inside and parented to the ball to cast light. The ball has an animated fire shader by bagginsbill (available here http://sites.google.com/site/bagginsbill/file-cabinet ) called Fire4.mt5 which should be placed in a folder inside the Materials folder of Poser. Then it's just a matter of applying the fire shader to the ball prop.

This .gif anim has a different material on it, this time a fire shader by Ajax from his P5 shader pack (which work fine in P8 ), available in the freestuff here, http://www.renderosity.com/mod/freestuff/index.php?user_id=44709 This time I made the ball prop a different size through the animation to give it a sort of pulsing look, and changed the colour of the light too.

Just another couple of ideas for you to try.

Thanks Raven, that's pretty sexy... so you created a ball, then add the fire material, then rotated it while moving it with a light source inside, also while fluctuating the ball size, gonna play with that., thanks... :)

ah, looks like you're used this and not fire material...

That's pretty much it, a textured ball with a light inside. I forgot to mention that I also turned off cast shadows in the ball's properties panel.
In my first anim I never rotated the ball at all, the effect of the flames moving is purely by bagginsbill's animated fire shader.
In the second anim I did play about with the size and rotation of the ball, and used the fire shader in the free shader pack by Ajax as it looks a bit more wizardish.

Glad it helps :)
