Hello

I just installed poser 8 and like it. however I saved figures that I modified and saved in folders in poser 6. I tried to open them in 8 however nothing appears in the folders. how can I get my figures in poser 8? or am I stuck with them in 6?

Did you add the Poser 6 Library to you new Library or just try to open them?

I tried to add the folder, but I got a message saying it was not a "runtime folder".

Just guessing, i dont have P8.  You might check the folder structures of 8 to see if 6 matches. When I upgraded P7 with a SR my external runtimes would not load until I went in and added another folder.

used to be

myRuntimes/Creatures/libraries...

had to change to

myRuntimes/Creatures/runtime/libraries...

@Dr Geep that was the first thing I tried.  I'll try again.

Each external parent folder must have a runtime folder within.  you can easily link to those folders as Dr. Geep illustrated.  If you still have P6 installed, navigate to the P6 folder only, do not target it's runtime folder within for linking.  By your OP, am I to assume that you are trying to access pz3's?  If that is the case, the open command under files will suffice. However, you would need to re-establish all links for the scene to load properly.

These folders in question are storage folders I created. they contain morphs I've tinkered with
and figures saved with new mats on them. I saved them in a separate folder that I added to P6.
I am trying to access that folder to see if I can bring them up in P8.
do I have to save the figure as a scene? I worked really hard on adjusting a morph to be just the way I like it. don't want to lose it.

What format are these files?  CR2? OBJ?  And how did you save them initially?

bowiefan ( ) posted Sun, 05 September 2010 at 4:11 PM

when I check properties it say "poser executable files".
the way I saved them was, for example I pulled up V4 and then superimposed one of the figures I purchased off Renderosity. I would try mats from other figures or morphs to create something a little different. I would then save the result in a newly created file I had added to the library in the character section. I had the option to save under pose, lights, prop etc.

when I try to do file open in those folders nothing appears in the field unless I select "all files"
then all of the character files in the folder appear. I cannot open them.

I may try to load the same figures from Poser 6 again in Poser 8 and see if it works that way.
maybe it won't work unless I have the stuff I used initially to create it.
