I downloaded a freebie and after I unziped it the formay ext simply said FILE.....What is FILE and What opens it?  What program uses it?

Thanks

It might mean that no programs are available  to open the file with...

Or.. if you downloaded from a bad site.. you might have opened a virus....

can you post exactly what it says.... ie..  box.obj  or  box.max  do not post link

I downloaded it from Sharecg..The author has lots of free stuff on there so I sent him an e-mail and am waiting an answer?  The file name is Savanne2 and it says its for Bryce???

is it a OBP file?   You need to extract it in the correct Bryce folder....

According to the page it's a zip file.
All you should need to do is fixup the extension and extract.

The file inside the zip file is the problem.

The extension(s) for the content of the zip should be visible when looking in the file.
If not, either use something other than the built-in Windows ZIP handler, or turn on extension visibility.

I checked it out..inside the zip file are two other files..neither of them have an extension.  It is supposed to be a Bryce scene file.
This is what they say:

._Savanne2
Savanne2

no extension on either file I didn't try to open them with Bryce but it may work.  Are they mac files?

I recognized the first file as a mac file...I've gotten them before in zip files...but the missing extension I don't remember getting before.

Just rename it ... I just did and works... ( I scanned it first...)
Savanne2.br7  works for me...

Pretty nice little scene... :-)

Yeah, if it came from a Mac, you may have to give it a file extension, I've ran into that before. Not often, but it happens.
