Subject: Muscle Maps for P6 James & Jessi

poserpro ( ) posted Mon, 13 September 2010 at 9:18 PM · edited Fri, 24 January 2025 at 11:00 AM

I wonder if we can find any muscle maps available for both JAMES/JESSI to freely download ?
For Personal Study Purpose.

TIA.

EF/SMS created skeletons for James and Jessi but that's as far as it went.  I doubt they would be free if they had made them.  The only choices you have are the DAZ3D gen 3 or gen 4 models or the high end professional models created by Zygote.

Thanks.
I also need the muscle morphs of them to study their anotomy, if only commercial ones are up to grab, kindly show me the lniks.

If you want accurate anatomical studies, it would probably be better to check Grey's Anatomy or other medical texts; muscle texture maps may be "fudged" for artistic reasons, and while Poser figures might look realistic, they don't move or stretch and contract exactly like a real person would. You'd never see the muscle contractions necessary to make a smile, for example (which involves muscles all the way up the cheekbone into the scalp.)

My best suggestion: take an Anatomy and Physiology course.  Comparative Anatomy as well.

Well, thanks for all replies you have given. I just want to learn the human structure for drawing purpose, sometimes for modeling in 3D, not necessarily that accurate as medical reason :)

Muscle maps & morphs from DAZ.

www.daz3d.com/i/3d-models/-/victoria-4-2

They require Morphs++ as well.  There is a comparable package for M4.

DAZ also has maps for the Generation 3 figures:

Most Fine Art's majors and CGI majors have to take at least the basic A&P course.  Knowing how the skeleton and muscles go together and function will give you a leg up on your art work and your modelling.

Comparative Anatomy is useful when it comes to modelling non-human figures.

As far as the muscle maps go, they are texture maps.  They make no promises to anatomical anything.  The only muscle maps I know of that are designed to work with the actual daz figure are by this artist

He did a set for Micheal 1 and Stephanie 1 (the two figures use the same UV maps).  Since they are free at DAZ, you might find them more acurate as far as movement that the Gen 3 and Gen 4.

I appreciate all your useful answers.

I think A & P are important for artist to realize the human structure. I have sepent some time working on anatomy in particularly. The difficult part is how you perceive the muscle forms when the body parts rotate or bend or twist, and how they look from different viewing angle, which makes the muscle look different from default pose.

Thanks, I think the Mike 4 and Vict 4 packages are good for my purpose, maybe they are not accurate enough, but it is a good start. www.posemanic.com has some examples

I have studied the following books:

Anatomy for the Artist
Bodybuilding - Strength Training Anatomy
Bridgman's Constructive Anatomy
Burne Hogarth's Dynamic series
Christopher Hart 's series
Andrew Loomis' series
Force.Character.Design.From.Life.Drawing
Jack.Hamm's Drawing The Head & Figure
Joseph Sheppard's Anatomy
