Subject: I Love Network Renders

Although it's a little clumsy at the host end once it's going it makes me a happy camper. This is my first day with Bryce 5 and it's amazing to see what a toll the premium features take on the CPU, but it's so cool to see my G3-450 working on one piece while my usually useless AMD k6-300 test box renders another piece. At home I should be able to get my 7300/G3 333, my Dell P4-1.3 and my old PowerBook 1400c working together the same way. I would've upgraded for this feature alone. Woo-hoo!

I too love network rendering! I just wish there were more options for stills rather than bmp! I use 3 machines here at home. A PIII 600, a PII 266, and a PII 550. Makes for pretty quick work for those long renders!

I would have preferred multi processor support in Bryce 5 over network rendering. I own a dual processor system, and this would speed up render times considerably. Hence, in this respect I prefer Vue d'Esprit 4 over Bryce 5. Not too many people have enough space in their homes to set up 2-3 computers ;-) Regards, Gabi

Here is the url to use both CPUs in Bryce 5... http://www.bryce5.net/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=24&FORUM_ID=13&CAT_ID=5&Topic_Title=Dual+Processor+Support&Forum_Title=Bryce+Lightning Good luck!

Thank you very much for the link! I am not sure if it is usable for me. I don't have Bryce 5 yet, and so I don't know what "Lightning" is and if I can use the network rendering option on my system, which is not connected to a network. However, I might give it a try. I would have preferred an easier way though . Greetings from Germany, Gabi

Thanks for that dual processor tip, Warder; I got it set up pretty easily, and am running some timed tests right now. And for Gabi..."Lightning" is the rendering client that comes with Bryce 5. Thanks again, Literata

I see. Well, that is good to know since I plan a thorough revision of my "Bryce vs. Vue d'Esprit" comparative review on my homepage, and I will post some render times as well :)
