Here is the thread for all ideas for the August contest, we'd like to all get started soon. Is the idea of a street portrait agreeable to all? Syyd

in regards to portraits, I'd like to see everyone's take on environmental portraiture. That can be extremely fascinating if done well. Otherwise, here's my idea "The heebee-geebies!" In other words, scary shyte. Like, subtly scary shyte. Ry

NO. I'm not too keen on a street portrait. How about take three topics out of several and do something with it. How about that. Can we create a theme using 4 items out of a list of 8? That will atleast bound the exercisr somewhat and give us something to spark our creativity? We're already comparing apples and oranges for the contest anyway. Let's face it our concept for what constitures spring or a reflection varied pretty far and wide. Bsteph

environmental portraiture dammit! If anyone doesn't know, it's a portrait of someone in their "natural habitat." For instance, a librarian in the rows of books, a mechanic under a car, a mega-mogul business owner standing on top of his 97 story building. My girlfriend just got really pissed of at me, bye! ry

I'm kind of curious as to what a 'street portrait' entails. It may or may not be something I have the opportunity to do. :-)

OK, number 1 - before we start bitchin about WHAT the subject is, lets get a list of WHO is getting involved. I was really saddened last month when several people dropped out of the competition just because they didn't like the subject. No offence intended, but hey - we should be able (and willing) to turn our hand to any subject. Once we commit ourselves, we commit ourselves. Full Stop. Number 2 - No matter how many threads we open on it, people will agree and disagree about the subject, each having their owns tastes, ideas and preferences. When we have a bunch of committed entrants, I'm sure we can trust Syyd (for example!) to write about 5 suggestions on bits of paper and pick one out at random? Random luck is always the fairest option, IMO. (",)

I'm in as well. This sounds like fun.

I'm in as well. I didn't get to participate in the reflections due to other issues, but I'd like to jump back in here. :)

I would like to give it a shot (no pun intended), whatever is decided.
