martial ( ) posted Sun, 03 October 2010 at 7:06 PM · edited Tue, 04 February 2025 at 5:22 AM

 Bonjour

I have bought today Photoshop CS5 (ouh and hesitation for my $$$$ but i have bought original)

I have used a little CS3 academic version in french before

I am a retired person now and i have more time to learn

I prefer books I have used video but i prefer books

What book i must read about CS5 ? some suggestions ??

I need a pratical book

I use computer for long time. I know and used a lot Painter But  now i don't like version 11 of Painter because many bugs and it is  so slow even for simple operation like copy and paste (and i have Window 7 64 bits with 8 gig ram)

That why i go now to Photoshop

Thanks

First look around net, most of what is in books is on the net some where.
Try Youtube...as a search on Youtube type in photoshop tutorials and see what there is.
The is a photoshop TV site with some good stuff..not sure what the site is but google it.

Try these sites

http://photoshoptutorials.ws/

I have more links if you need them.

lynda.com has some videos out for learning CS5. their stuff is always quality (;

I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not.

Lynda com good but it is also rather costly, I have some of their videos.
Most of what Lynda com says can be found on the net...takes longer but much cheaper.

I tend to browse the super bookstores and sit down (They usually provide chairs and tables). Look at the contents and decide which appeals to you. My preference has been Photoshop CS4 Visual Quickstart Guide by Peachpit Press. visit www.peachpit.com and I'm sure that they have a CS5 version out. I hope this helps and I agree, I don't like video tutorials.
