we'll be using the 1927 South Western Alliance Rules, with the later subset of the Kronski variations.

Diagonals are Wild, aces are worth 7 and no trumps.

I'll start, with... hmm.... South Ealing.

Medzinatar ( ) posted Thu, 07 October 2010 at 10:04 AM

erm....Finchley Central?

Ian Porter ( ) posted Thu, 07 October 2010 at 1:41 PM

Aha,

Barking

3 points to me I think.

Malysse ( ) posted Thu, 07 October 2010 at 2:36 PM

I'll double your Barking with Exter St. Davids 'en passant', leaving you vulnerable and with isolated signals.

I'm sorry, but under Anderson's Rules of Contract, Whut can only be played on the 21st of July if playing the Scottish Rules.

Ian Porter ( ) posted Thu, 07 October 2010 at 3:12 PM

Hmmm, I can see I'll have to play more defensively.

Since we are playing by the 1927 rules I'll go Brompton Road and miss a turn.

Nice try, but you can't get away with a "Trip to Devon" gambit in this game, so go directly to Brixton without collecting Elephant & Castle and miss a turn, then wait until you roll a 6 or you a draw joker.

Cockfosters.

It's quite simple Sam. The first one to Mornington Cresent wins.

But you have to play by the rules.

Khai-J-Bach ( ) posted Thu, 07 October 2010 at 3:33 PM

the Great Game Sam...... Mornington Cresent.. I'm sure you'll pick up the rules as we go...

oh Cockfosters eh?

have to go with Tottenham Court Road on that..

Winterclaw ( ) posted Thu, 07 October 2010 at 3:51 PM

I start filling out the forms to call in a vogon contructor fleet to build a hyperspace bypass.

WARK!

Can you do South Ealing to Tottenham Court Road in one move?

I was always told you had to do Ealing Broadway and then set back.

Khai-J-Bach ( ) posted Thu, 07 October 2010 at 3:59 PM

you change at Holborn then back 1 stop to TCR, the old Miser Flipflop

pappy411 ( ) posted Thu, 07 October 2010 at 4:00 PM

Looks like  straight jackets and padded walls are in order.  Weird Poser session.

Ian Porter ( ) posted Thu, 07 October 2010 at 4:10 PM · edited Thu, 07 October 2010 at 4:12 PM

Ahh Holborn and then Tottenham Court Road, leaving you inside the circle line and well poised for your next move. That's very clever, I must remember that.

Oh and I'll draw two cards and go to Warren Street

Why use seven words to ask when you could Google it with two ?
And why should we miss out on being able to spring a Woolwich Arsenal on a novice.

I'll take a risk on a getting penalty corner and slide into Barbican.

Since vogon constructor fleets are allowed under the current rule set (they weren't banned until after the kinginston debacle of 1999 when the destination was obliterated 5 times resulting in a 12 hour game that ended in a draw because no one could get there), I start filling out the duplicate forms.

WARK!

Red card for a clear violation of the anti Napolen gamit, outlawed in 1984 after the George Orwell debacle.  Go back to Tooting Bec and rejoing one stop down.

Paul, if you insert HGTTG's 42,  things will become significantly clearer on the game rules and play.

Ok I'm playing the Anticlockwise rule, written into the British Transport Repairworks Revision of September 1968.  In place for a further 4 turns, back to Dollis Hill for me.

doing the Dollis Hill loop again...

I think I can see the way out tho...

Paul_Position ( ) posted Fri, 08 October 2010 at 1:32 PM

Ran some simulations on the ol' calculator (we're not running ludite variation, are we?) and game theory pretty much decided for me : I'll be looping all over King's Cross waiting for the best contract (And then I'll overbid, but we'll see to that when you guys finish the current round).

SamTherapy ( ) posted Fri, 08 October 2010 at 3:53 PM

Made it to Doncaster.

I'm waaay off but I'll get the 125 from Sheffield to King's x from there.

Objection, referee! I demand a recount.

If we accept Waterloo as legitimate.

I'll propose moving along Bakerloo to Ongar via an enigma variation.

Still in the Dollis Hill loop

I'm going to attempt a slide to Holborn using Stuttertons Gambit, soon as the requisite stations are played...

pakled ( ) posted Sat, 09 October 2010 at 11:44 AM

well, I was last there in '91, and all I can remember was the Kensington (there's 2...or there were), and another stop that puts you at the base of Big Ben.

In the US, often street names and neighborhoods are named for these, so they're all over the place.

Already at Holborn.  I used Farthingale's Reverse Double Counter Broadside Maneouvre.

I'm prepared to accept Ruddington's Single Penury for the perceived unfair advantage, though.

And once we're done with this, anyone want to play Fizzbin? It's really quite a simple game: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BlK-Usd1tBM&feature=related

That's certainly the recommended beginners opening move, difficult to say how appropriate it is in a game that's well underway (only time will tell).

Euston.
