THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: aaarrggghh!!

erosiaart ( ) posted Fri, 08 October 2010 at 4:37 AM · edited Mon, 25 November 2024 at 10:29 PM

am at an internet cafe writing this..

it's 2:55 pm.. temp outside..about 35 deg cel. and in here..just a fan to cool us off.
internet cafe's are supposed to be shut.. as cops have shut them down for security issues..but most anyway.. are opened.

and with all of this..comes the sad. news..

my laptop gave up on me yesterday. it refused to open.  just like that. I immediately rushed it off to the computer hospital, where they did a part internal check, and finding nothing wrong, said they'd have to do a major opening to diagnose the issue. I had to leave it..sadly..all alone..on the surgery table, while..and ooh my heart bled for the poor thing.. it was being cut open.

This morning, I received the sad news that it's power circuit had blown up. I had to make a choice..change just the circuit or the motherboard. I've opted for the circuit.. but alas, it will have to stay in a specialized surgery for a week or so whilst the change happens. I won't be allowed to see it.
Boohoo.
I thank my lucky stars though.. that the hard drive is working fine and nothing went wrong with it. In fact, they've given me back the hard drive in a safety bag, to keep safe and sound at home.

in the meantime..no more brycing for me till it comes back. I've got a few projects lined up..but since my trusty partner isn't there to help.. alas, I've had to postpone it.

And so ..whilst all this is going on..I shall find a life without the internet, bryce, rendo, skype etc..  A strange one, I must say. Movies, walks, books, and a terrible feeling that I've moved into being a Neanderthal (spelling?) world.

Cheers everyone..and happy brycing.

from a rather surreal world that's opposite of the matrix,

Rosie, I feel your pain. I was cut-off recently and nearly went mad wondering what was happening on planet Earth.
Isn't amazing how quickly we feel cut-off from the world if we lose our access to computers?

Am a a friend's place..checking my emails. Hubert?? NOT addicted? I've been restless, got headaches, dunno what to do with myself, my fingers seem to look for a mouse, my brains have started conjuring great ideas for renders and I can't do a thing about it, and i feel really cut off from everything. All withdrawal symptoms!
Sigh..
Tom..lol.. good idea.. :-p
Thanks everyone for all the support..
Cheers

thebryster....aaargggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh (imagine me banging my head on the table..)
stoner... you are terribly mean.. :-p lol. great one.

this morning, my yoga teacher said it's pretty good I'm relaxing my wrist for once. Can anyone be more crueler than that?

got two mins to check my mail..and then.. I'm out of here.. sigh...

Hubert ( ) posted Sun, 10 October 2010 at 6:07 AM

Hi Rosie,

many thanks for sending out two dogs to us!

Though I am not sure if two dogs will be sufficient for all of us, depends on their size. Oh no.... the site www.deliciousdogs.com gets currently reworked, so I cannot look up apt recipes! Sigh!!

... or did I possibly "misinterpret" your generous offer?? ;)

Don´t worry, am only teasing you! I wouldn´t eat dogs, it would rather be vice versa! :)

Hi Rosie,
Many of us have had time off-line from time to time, and it sucks!

 On the other hand...

Jobs around the house and garden get done.
The chance of overtime is eagerly accepted and visiting family isn't such a chore!

Yeah! off-line sucks - I feel your pain!

 Cheers! jed.

Chris?? I am not talking to you!! Be banned to China! (dogs on mars??)
Jed..I watched four episodes of Sherlock Holmes, and Depp's Alice in Wonderland. Baked a brownie, will go home and read a book, and the housekeeper after me to get the carpenter in to get two doors redone..before the laptop gets back. Curtains to wash. We just did the sofa covers. Yup..chores around the house has to get done.
Hubert?? Are you joining thebryster in China???
Btw..I wish i had my jar next to me.. I'd have kept the brownies out for you guys to reach out and have..

I'm outta here.. it's so hot. and noisy. woman next to me just asked how does she fwd a gmail email. Someone singing..even though he's got headphones. Someoen shouting over the mobile..he's about to loose approx the equivalent of 3 thousand dollars. And the owner pottering around. Ok..this place sounds like the beginning of mystery book! Hmm..material for the writer's forum. ...Hmmm...

Hi Rosie,

was that Internet Cafe possibly located in the "Twiligt Zone"?? ;)

@@ TheBryster: Glad to read you, brother in mind. Could you please send me another rocket load of MARSmallows? I will need much more for the suggested stuffing of a Saint Bernard on Thanksgiving. Tha!

.... and who is really surprised (according to Rosie's description of her activities) that there IS a true life outside the Web! ;)

UVDan..I'm banned from the computer hospital till Tuesday. I'm hardly breathing...

Hubert..a stuff Saint Bernard??? My fav breed of dogs?? Oh man! You have done it this time. Absolutely no brownies or cakes or chocolates at all for you. Poor dogs..they so adorable..weigh more than me.. way bigger than I am..but I love them!

Sadly..there is a life away from the computer..sans Bryce and the web. A really strange one and one that ain't so  much fun! :-( I miss bryce! I don't even think this is life! It's like walking in the cave world!

Tom..hotdogs? I dunno..these people out here thinking of way too much exotic recipes of sweet adorable dogs. Enough to give me a nitemare !

Hubert..probably. We've had no power around town the whole day..usual Thursday shut down. I popped in as soon as power came back. Have someone now trying to scan images, another one waiting for print outs, another chap needed to chat on MSN but not so sure how.. left..and forgot to sign off his chat. It's a small pokey, dusty place..but will do. We've got too many security issues now that the gov't has banned internet cafes.

Hows the world of bryce??

Hubert ( ) posted Thu, 14 October 2010 at 10:35 AM

Hi Rosie,

no Bryceing, limited power supply, hardly access to the Web... ouch!! You have my sympathy!

Yep, being just perfectly sized to feed my whole family! Though we usually start with sugarcoated dachshund as quick breakfast. ;)

Hope you will get your laptop reparied and back asap!!

to those who put out bryce questions and stuff on my gallery and I'm not replying..forgive me.. will write back once my laptop gets back. A couple more days. I am BORED!!!!!!!!!
