Subject: Sharkey's War Horse?

Ladyfyre-graphics ( ) posted Sat, 23 October 2010 at 6:05 PM · edited Thu, 01 August 2024 at 2:00 PM

Hiya everyone, I've not posted on here for a long time due to real life and health problems taking up all my time, but I've just had an email from a customer of mine looking for Sharkey's War Horse (based on the P4 horse). The last time I checked (I think a couple of years ago) it was still in the free stuff here butI can't find it now and it seems as though his website has gone :(

Does anyone know where it went or even if it is still available? If not I'd appreciate it if anyone has contact details for Robert (I think) Sharkey, as I've got plenty of space and bandwidth on my website to host the file if he would grant me permission, as it's a real shame when nice freebies like this are no longer available for the newer people.

Thank you,

Angela

Content Advisory! This message contains nudity

He used to have a store here, but that seems to be gone now.  You could try sending him a Sitemail, but unless he still checks in here, he won't see that he has a message unless he knew to turn on Sitemail notification. Which many don't do.

However, I've had success in contacting people by leaving a post in one of their gallery images.  That is automatically turned on and they will get notification unless they have turned off that feature, which most don't.

So give it a try. Send a Sitemail,  and then make a post in the above image and ask him to please check his site mail.  I can't promise it will work, but it's worth a try :)

EDIT:

Ok, it seems that he still does have a store here. A few items still in it.

sharkey had it on his website that he was going to do some reconstruction but in the past year everything has been removed.  nothing remains.

bloodsong is here: http://3dmenagerie.com/

Bloodsong had the "Heavy Horse" IIRC. The warhorse was Sharkey's,  though in the readme, he credits Bloodsong for help fixing the .cr2.

Thank you for all the replies, I have sent Robert a message on here so will post back when I hear from him, that is if he comes here at all to recieve it.

It was Robert Sharkey who made the War Horse, it was a beefed up, muscular morph of the Poser 4 horse with modeled mane, tail and fetlocks and was a nice model. This is a render of it with one of my free textures.

Bloodsong made the Heavy Horse which was entirely new geometry and I think is still the best horse model out there for posability, the Charger looks like a fat pony to me and the the Millennium Horses draft horse morph is well, imaginative.... I'm currently working on my own draft morph for the MilHorse, but it is a different type to the Heavy Horse and will continue to use them both.

lmckenzie: it's been a long time since I've posted on here, my health hasn't been good and I was just in hospital a couple of weeks ago. The good thing is that after 16 years of telling me I have M.E. and that there isn't anything they can do for me they have now found out that it has been my heart all along....the bad thing is that the betablockers they put me on are making me feel like hell. I don't know what to think, I was only 27 when I first became ill, I'm 43 now and am angry, bitter but strangely relieved but also scared stiff lol! I was in hospital earlier this year for a major operation and they didn't pick up on it then either so heavens knows...

I still use Poser, Daz|Studio, Carrara and my other programs but don't get much time, with three horses to care for with my energy levels so have loads of half finished projects sitting on my drive waiting for me to finish them up. I've spent most of my time lately working on my websites and will hopefully be bringing my main website up to date in the near furture :)

x Angela

I am sorry to hear you have had such a bad time. Even worse that they have been treating the wrong thing. I hope they figure out what is wrong- and you start feeling better soon.

What a nice looking horse!! I can see why someone would still want to use it after all these years. Thanks for sharing. I have been around since this was PFO- I may even have this horse morph sitting on one of many old CD-ROMS.

  Nice to see you back!
