Subject: Daz Millennium Teens Help!

iwbasl ( ) posted Sat, 23 October 2010 at 4:00 AM · edited Fri, 01 November 2024 at 11:21 PM

I can't get an add on to work. I have used it for years and can"t figure out whats wrong. Usually on Laura I see things listed like strech legs but nothing is listed except for head functions like smile on the head. I can't get Melissa Blue by thornworks to change the head. I can get all morphs to work on Michael 4. Daz support won't help since Melissa Blue is not there product but I think it is a Daz problem since I am missing normal function on Laura. Please help, I tried every thing I can think of including reloading Poser 7 on my original computer that worked well for years.

sounds like it does not know where morphs are.  Their should be a folder under

"Runtime/libraries/!DAZ/Laura"

that contains needed info.

Are you sure you have the Laura Head and Body Morphs injected?

My guess is, that you've loaded the wrong character: Laura 3 PT or Laura 3 Blank instead of Laura 3. Laura 3 Blank has no morph channels, Laura 3 PT has morph channels in her head, but no morph channels in her Body actor. Both, Laura 3 PT and Laura 3 Blank, have no community channels, so trying to inject Melissa Blue won't work on these characters.

On the other hand, you shouldn't need any other DAZ morphs, if you try to inject Melissa Blue on the 'right' Laura 3 figure (the one with PBMCC), because Melissa has original/custom morph targets. They are injected by using some of the so called Community Channels (PBMCC).

I am aware of which character to load. If this were an easy problem I would not have asked for help

As you haven't mentioned getting any error messages, it seems likely that Poser is finding all the various files that INJect the custom morphs.

One thing to check is that you are using the "Laura 3" figure not the "Laura 3 PT" figure, or the "Laura 3 BLANK" figure.
The "Laura 3 PT" is for (clothing) compatability with the Gen2 MilGirl and won't take morphs meant for L3.
The "Laura 3 BLANK" CR2 is for making clothing and won't take any morphs at all.

I think DAZ injection files need to be in the main Poser runtime and not an external runtime.

Only for P6 and older, not a problem for P7 and newer (provided the search depth is set correctly).

You do not need any of the DAZ injection files for this model to work. It is a custom morph.

You will need them for expressions

You must have the library "/runtime/libraries/!TW/Blue" with the proper pz2's in it

Check the 7th (or so) line of your CR2 file, it should say

figureResFile :Runtime:Geometries:DAZPeople:blYTGirl.obj

If it does not, post back or site mail me

can't find CR2 file

nruddock ( ) posted Sun, 24 October 2010 at 8:33 PM

Quote - can't find CR2 file

You've got extensions being visible turned off for Explorer, but the CR2s are the ones showing as "PoserContent" in the Type column. That doesn't really matter as these are the files that show up in the figure library in Poser.
You need to load the figure labelled "Laura 3" not any of the others as mentioned previously.

medzin ( ) posted Sun, 24 October 2010 at 9:30 PM

The correct CR2 is the one you have somehow renamed "_Laura 3", this is the right size

Right now there doesn't appear to be a PNG for it, so you probably have the "shrugging man" symbol in folder.

The other one that says "Laura 3" maybe incorrectly labeled, the size doesn't match any version I have

lmckenzie ( ) posted Mon, 25 October 2010 at 12:11 AM

I think medzin may have hit on it.

What I'd do

1st, I'd turn off the 'hide extensions for known file types' in Tools->Folder Options... or wherever it is in your OS - more trouble than it's worth IMO.

Then try renaming the "Laura 3" file that's 9,318 KB. I'm assuming that with extensions on it will show up as Laura 3.cr2. Rename it to "Laura 3.cr2.xxx" or something similar.

Remove the leading "_" from the 14,776KB file so it becomes "Laura 3.cr2"  You already have the thumbnails, so everything should hopefully show up correctly in the Poser library.

This is all assuming that you've been trying to use the 9,318 KB file, whose origin is mysterious. Did you ever make a modified L3 and save her to your library? If you can remember what it's for, give it a descriptive name and remove the ".xxx" so it'll show up - and make a thumbnail for it.

Apologies if any of this is too obvious :-)

No I haven't changed anything. This is a new install.

Quote - No I haven't changed anything. This is a new install.

Then something went wrong, because the "Laura 3.CR2" file is the wrong size, and the "_Laura 3.CR2" is the right size.

medzin ( ) posted Mon, 25 October 2010 at 9:56 AM

IIRC, on the older installers, files will have a "" before the name while they are being decompressed.  The "" name should go away after successful install.  It is hard to say exactly what happened in your case, but your options are to change name, as previously described in this thread and sitemail I sent you, or do a re-install.

My "Laura 3.cr2" file is 14,776 KB in size.  Time stamp is 12/30/2005 11:38 AM.  No underscore.
