Subject: How much RAM do I need for Vue 8-9 to run smoothly?

I am ordering a new PC and I wondered how much RAM I should get? THanks, Sherrie

I have Vue installed on 2 machines: A laption with 4 gigs, and main machine with 8 gigs. Vue 8 to 9 run fine on both machines, never get any OOM, but must say also that I (almost) don't use Poser. But complex ecosystems and displacements are happy with my modest 4 gigs of ram on laptop, surprisingly.

Thanks. That's good to know. I am really excited about getting a new PC. My old one is obsolete.

Sixteen gigs should do just fine.  I got a machine with 8 gigs, and now I wish I had more.  I do a lot of aerial shots, and with an infinite terrain I can't add even the simplest EcoSystem.  It just never gets past populating the dynamic EcoSystem.  It maxes out my physical RAM and my HDD runs constantly writing to the page file.  It may eventually work, but I've never had that kind of time to find out.

Thanks...that helped me decide on which laptop to get...the ASUS G73JW-XA1comes with 8gb installed and room for 16.

It's a bit more than I wanted for Carrara 8 & Bryce 7, but I want to be able to use VUE 8, and my current HP 6226 can barely handle it.

i have 16 and i think its quiet more than i need only by 3dsmax and anything else.

grafikcard can be better :P

8 GB of DDR3 memory is the best choice for any version of VUE. :)

More memory is...UNUSED, superfluous ballast for PC with VUE.

A few any 3D softs like 3DS MAX, LIGHTWAVE need 12-16 GB memory for comfortable work - not VUE.

**"8 GB .... is best"  **Excellent! =)

I had planned to get the ASUS G73JW-XA1, but instead

bought a Sony F136 fx that only has room for 8 GB (due to

 budget considerations).

THanks!

=)

ps- will install VUE 8 ASAP and post the results.

Well, I ended up ordering the i7 950 with 12 gigs of triple channel RAM.
